"Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy two exotic dairy cattle and start poultry farming project. I intend to use 700USD to buy the two dairy cattle to supplement my family with milk for both domestic and commercial use(through the sale of surplus milk). I already have a poultry unit and so I will use the remaining balance from the transfer to buy chicken and their feeds."

"Receiving this money means that my family shall have more income and hence lead a better life. This is because I will use the money to lease some pieces of land for crop farming. Besides, I will spend some of the money on expanding my business of buying and selling chicken."

"Receiving this money would mean a lot to me because it would change the face of my family. I live in a tiny house where we cook and sleep. I also keep chicken which spends the night in the very same house. The smoke that emanates from the firewood that we cook with gives us so much irritation. This makes my child cough repeatedly thus affecting her sleep. Talk of the droppings from the chicken that always leave the whole house smelly and the cock that crows in the wee hours of the morning. This has brought me so much shame from my friends who come to visit me. If I get lucky to be enrolled, I plan to construct a better house that will change the face of my young family. I will use at least 30000 shillings for the same."

"I have a family of five with no dairy cattle to supplement dairy products to them. Therefore, receiving this money means that I will be able to buy one dairy cattle that goes for 300USD to provide milk to my family and as a result put to an end regular purchase of milk. I will also use 100USD to build a house for my two grown up male boys to sleep and study. In this case, they will have their privacy and ours preserved. For the remainder of the transfer, I intend to use it to start poultry farming as an employment opportunity. I will built a poultry unit, buy fifty chicken and their feeds. This will not only render me as self employed but also provide me with a regular flow of income through the sale of poultry products."

"Poultry keeping is what I depend on to earn a living. I usually sell eggs and chicks whenever the hens hatch and this activity has really empowered me economically. I therefore plan to use $50 to build a modern and more spacious chicken coop, then use $50 to add more chicken to my poultry. I also intend to spend $35 to buy household furniture, $10 to replace my old tattered beddings and then use the remaining part of my transfer to stock food stuffs such as corn, rice and beans in my granary."

"Receiving this money would mean so much to me and my family too. We live in an area that is frequently hit by drought, and so we cannot solely depend on the crops that we plant. I plan to start poultry keeping if I get lucky to be enrolled in GiveDirectly program as this will be a good additional source of income. For a start I want to have 50 chicken each costing 500 shillings. From this I will get 50 eggs per day which I will sell in a nearby market at a cost of 10 shillings each. This will translate to 500 shillings daily. This will fully cater for my family's daily needs and my children going to bed hungry will be a thing of the past."

"Receiving this money means building a better house for my family. Our current house is so small that it cannot accommodate all of us. This made me built a small chicken pen like structure to shelter my 2 boys. I share the single roomed house with my 3 daughters and whenever my husband comes home, my eldest daughter is forced to sleep in our neighbour's house. Besides this, the house is in a very poor state. Its walls are collapsing and the roof is leaking, making it unbearable during heavy down pour."

"I have been having the desire of owning a spacious house for my family of 6. Additionally, I had some projects which I started but came to an abrupt halt due to financial crisis. When I receive the transfer I intend to use 20,000 shillings to expand our house to three rooms. Also, I will use 20,000 shillings to boost my poultry commercial project by repairing the structure and adding more chicken. The remaining amount will be used to pay my children's school fees, buying food and clothing."

"My family of 8 has been living in this small one roomed hut since 2001. I have always wanted to build a three roomed iron roofed house that goes for $400 since then, but lack of finances has made it impossible. My children mostly spend their nights at their grand parents kitchen which inconveniences them walking at night. It is also shameful asking my neighbours to host my visitors at night whenever they come around. This money will therefore enable me to fulfill my all time wish. I will then spend $300 to buy a friesian dairy cow and $200 to build a poultry unit and buy chicken for rearing. Selling milk and eggs will earn me income to support my family needs, especially food and education for my children."
