"With 2 of our children in college and another in secondary school, it has been very burdensome to pay their fees without a regular source of income. Receiving this money will unlock a long-time-suppressed potential of becoming a prolific poultry farmer. Having begun this agribusiness, I anticipate to educate my children with ease from the sale of chicken eggs and meat. Putting up a poultry structure will cost $150 will 20 chicken is worth $80.Thanks to GiveDirectly, the ambition to have all my children become college graduates has become foreseeable."

"Receiving this money means a transformed life for me in terms of living a better life. This is because as of now, I live in a one-roomed house that at the same time is used as a kitchen as well as a chicken coop. Most of the time, the room is infested with lice from the chicken and this does not give me peaceful nights. To prevent this, I plan to spend the first transfer on constructing an extra room for $400 to shift from the old one and also to purchase new beddings for $100. On the other hand, I will spend the remaining amount to purchase 2 indigenous dairy cows and 1 bull for $300 and $200 respectively. These will be of help to me since I will be able to get milk for both domestic use and also to sell."

Faith
received a $490 second payment.
"I had been buying milk for sometime but when I got my first transfers I had alot to accomplish and I bought a heifer with part of it. I ran out of patience as the heifer would take long before it reproduce and gives us milk. I opted to resell when I received my second transfers and added KES 24000 to make it KES 40000 which was enough to buy a lactating cow. I then bought one which is now giving us milk for use at home and the surplus which we sell for income. The remaining portion, I spent KES 8000 on buying two sheep for rearing and another KES 1500 on buying chicken. I also obtained water container, cushions and food items at a cost of KES 7300. The remaining amount of KES 5000, I gave to my spouse so that he would spend on supporting his poultry business."

Karisa
received a $498 second payment.
"My life is currently different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer in that if it was not for the transfers my children would still be sleeping in the kitchen which they shared with the chicken too. Seeing them sleep in a conducive environment makes me proud."
