"The transfer has brought a big difference in my life and that of my family. This is because I managed to achieve my goal of building another house for them. I also managed to buy another cow. The cow is yet to calve but when it does, I will be able to get more milk for sale. This thus will result in more income."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the purchase of a water tank. This has relieved me of the burdens of carrying water and now I can now fully concentrate on my garden and dairy farming. Initially, I used to think twice before going to the river because it caused me a lot of back pain and leg pain but these are no more. I am now very happy because I have been carrying water on my back for the longest time. Secondly, my garden is now well secured with the barbed wire fence bought using the transfers. As a result, I don't have to worry about fruits and vegetables whenever I am away from home. My only concern now is buying an additional dairy cow."

"It was around 7 a.m. while milking the cow that's when I heard a message alert on my phone. On checking, I had received KES 55,000 from GiveDirectly. I was very happy and relayed the good news to my husband who was preparing to go to work. He was excited and after work we planned for the money and withdrew the following day."

"My daughter did very well in her primary school exam and she got a very good school. The school fees issue was almost costing her the secondary school education but fortunately, her father got a client who wanted a cow and that's how my daughter went to secondary school. Although she did not go to the school she was selected for but i thank God she is in school."

"I am a younger mother to four kids. Before the transfers I had a small house, and all my kids could share the same bedroom due to inadequate space. With the transfers, I used Kshs 15,000 to expand my house, the kids are now so happy as they have their own bedroom. I do subsistence farming for a living, before the transfers, I could do the farming manually and this could take alot of time to complete a piece of land for a given time, with the transfers I managed to buy two cows worth Kshs 30,000 and this has inturn helped in cultivating the farm. Being that my family is not that large, I used the balance of Kshs 10,000 to buy food stock as getting regular and balanced diet has been the greatest challenge in my family. I thank Give Directly for the transfers as my children now eat very healthy foods."

"I am a high school teacher and a mother of four. I am also a dairy farmer of three dairy cows which are a source of income during their high season. My husband also works as an engineer far away from home. From our salaries, we partner to pay school fees and do incoming generating projects together. During enrollment, we started building the foundation of our rental projects. Therefore when the transfers arrived, I spent KES 16,000 on the purchase of construction materials to aid in the building of the two rental shops. As a result, the building now is at its lintel, and at this rate, my house should be complete before the end of this year. Secondly, I spent KES 15,000 on the payment of school fees. This is because currently I have three kids in high school and the required fee was KES 5000 for each. As a result, my kids now study without any disturbance. Thirdly, I also spent KES 8,000 on food, gifts, and household items for my son's homecoming ceremony. This is because my teenage son just underwent circumcision a very critical rite of passage from childhood to adulthood in our community. For the rest, I spent KES 7,000 on the latest clothing and shoes for my family. As a result, my family has become more decent than before."

"My spouse had been passionate about a business idea that came at the top of our spending list at the receipt of the transfer. She has been hoping to venture into the second-hand clothes selling business that I could not hesitate in endorsing. She had a versed experience in the field as she once run a successful one before we got married. From the first transfer, I spent KES 25000 on obtaining the full stock she needed and I am glad that she has been working hard to ensure that the business picks within a short time. I also spent KES 8000 on buying two sheep that we are currently rearing, hoping to breed them and multiply them in the future. This livestock project will come in handy with our plan to buy a dairy cow that, even though we don't have enough money at the moment, selling some of the sheep in the future will help in raising the required amount. I also bought a new piece of furniture at KES 6400, enough foodstuff for my family of two at KES 5000, and saved the remaining amount to serve any arising need within the household. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for this generous support and looking forward to accomplishing a lot after the second transfer."

"I have for so long depended on selling my livestock to get money. It is a kind of investment that I really like and I am yearning to do more . My plan is therefore to buy three goats with the first three transfers of 3,000 KES. My long term plan is selling some of the goats and buying a cow so that I can start rearing cattle as well."

"I desire to see my future life be better than it is at the moment. To ensure this comes to reality, I am required to invest in long-term projects that I can depend on. The top one on the list is livestock keeping more particularly, goats that breed so faster as compared to cows. This project is so possible for me because I have a big portion of land where I can graze them. With these transfers, I intend to buy 1 goat every month and within a year, I will hit my target of at least 10 goats. This will be a good start to keep me at a better chance of sorting out needs that might arise in the future."
