"I spent KES 1000 of the transfer on paying school fees for my four children currently in primary school. I cleared the arrears so that they would be allowed to continue with their studies for a whole term. At least I have enough time to prepare for the next payment. I also spent KES 600 on buying two chickens which I am rearing. My expectation is that they will reproduce, and sell the offsprings to settle my financial needs such as the fees for my children. I spent the remaining amount on buying cereals like maize and ensured I have enough food for my family."

"I took a phone on my first transfer since I didn't have a phone to communicate with others as mine had gotten into water. Without a phone I felt like I was I the dark. Noe I am able to communicate with people as well as be informed. I am also able to get my money within good time. The rest of my first transfer went into reducing my son's schoold fees debt of 5000 shillings which is now 3000 since i paid 1200 shillings from the transfer and alittle more of 800 from my own earnings to the school. I used the second transfer to meet my goal which I have had for a while of starting a chicken business but I had no housing for the hens. I have bought 3 pieces or roofing sheets as at now the third transfer partially paid for wood as well as other biulding tools at 2500 shillings. I am hoping that the subsequent transfers will help finish the whole project. I used the remaining 500 shillings to buy food for myself and my family. I have had a problem raising money for my family for many basic things due to the scarcity of work which means that now I am unable to bring money to meet the basic needs home. I believe the transfers and the small business will help cover for this deficiency."

"My son had recently cleared class 8 and I was hoping for him to join a training college to gain a skill that would assist him. When I recieved my first transfer, 1500 shillings went into shopping for items for school which included hygiene products as well as school uniform. I was also able to direct my second transfer into sorting out transport for myslef and him on the teachers conference that we had at their school and also to bring him back home which totalled upto 900 shillings. I have another child in college too who was still in school during the December period and I was able to send him some 500 shillings for upkeep. I was also able to buy chicken for my small farm which cost me 250 shillings each. I was able to also buy food using both transfers, with the first transfer I bought maize flour as well as sugar for tea. The second transfer was used to purchase afew things to use for Christmas. We bought 4 packets of wheat flour as well as oil. I saved 200 shillings for any emergencies that arose."

"My life is entirely in the village practicing farming within my family land. It is always my happiness to see my farm doing better since it means food security and the ability to meet my family's needs. In the last six months, I improved my poultry farming. I bought 15 birds to make a total of 25 chickens and I also upgraded their house. This has been my joy in my life. I am certain that soon my farm will be producing a higher of eggs. I will be selling some to earn extra income and have some for my family consumption."
