"I plan to do an investment. After doing some study, I decided to open a grocery store because, as a result of the protracted drought, veggies are hard to come by in our village. Since people go a distance in quest of vegetables, I am confident that doing this would result in strong sales. I'll be able to provide for my family's necessities thanks to this enterprise. I aim to start a vegetable garden close to my house in addition to purchasing and selling veggies because there is access to swamp water nearby that I hope to use for irrigation. As a result, buying veggies for sale will be less expensive."

"After getting this money, i will invest it in irrigation agriculture. I would like to buy a water pump so that I farm off season with irrigation since the normal rain only destroy our crop. This has been my dream I just didn't have the money to realize it with."

"In April 2022, I leased 0.5 acres of land at the irrigation scheme where I sowed maize. I was excited to harvest 12 bags that I sold to the Kenya Seed Company and I am hopefully awaiting payment in December 2022. Additionally, I set aside 2 bags for my family of 3 and I am happy that we are food secure hence not worrying about where to get the finances to purchase food. Furthermore, my son Bravin, 6 months old brings joy to my life. When I married Joywin 1 year ago, I was prayerful about a blessing which came to fruition. They give me every reason to be responsible."

"When our family land was subdivided, I was privileged to acquire a 1-acre piece of land where I often cultivate maize, beans and tomatoes under irrigation. I have always wished to concentrate on horticulture but sadly finances have been a pitfall. In this area, farming only flourishes when you have the finances to purchase the farm inputs such as seedlings and fertilizer. Unfortunately, the farm outputs have been low and I have not gotten anything to save for expansion."

"For most of the seasons, I am a farmer growing maize, cowpies leaves, and green grams. But during the drought season that we are currently facing, it is expensive to get water for irrigation. I have ventured into a new business, burning timber for charcoal and selling it at $5 a sack. I have eight children that depend on me and it has been difficult to pay school fees for all of them at once. Most days the school sends them home and they miss a lot in school. I use Givedirectly money to buy food for them as I save money to pay other bills."

"After achieving the goal of ensuring that My children are getting better education, the new goal is to start irrigation farming at our half an acre piece of land. The intention is to grow vegetables such as tomatoes, sukuma wiki and spinach for sale. This is a good venture that would transform our living standard for the better since we already have tap water in that in the firm. The income I would make will assist me in taking care of the basic needs like food for the family."

"Since our area has a shortage of vegetables, I saw it prudent to set a goal of doing a grocery business once I get some money. This idea came after realizing that some people order veggies from another location while others travel to get them. Since I live near a dam, I aim to carry out irrigation to plant the vegetables. By so doing, I will have a source of income from the sales and this will enable me to continue paying school fees for my children."

"My new goal now is to focus on purchasing pipes for irrigation on my farm. I bought a water tank and I wish to start horticulture farming. Planting crops like tomatoes, potatoes, and beans. I have harvested the water and I wish to do irrigation on my farm. This will enable me to conduct horticulture farming throughout the year without being affected by the drought."

"After buying a one-acre plot of land near a river, aiming to start growing vegetables for sale, I developed a goal of making my farming successful. I aim to buy a water pumping machine for irrigation purposes from the river water. By so doing, I will be able to succeed in the project even if there will be less rain provided the river does not dry."

"Currently, I have a goal of securing a title deed for my piece of land. I bought a 2-acre piece using the first transfer and finalized the payments with part of the second transfer. Therefore, once I get some money I aim to get the title deed which will be a mark that I own the land. Thereafter, I plan to fence it and construct a dam for irrigation purposes because I love agriculture and this will help me to have a source of income from the produce."
