"I spent KES 38000 on my second transfer on buying a lactating dairy cow that has consistently provided my family of 10 with sufficient milk. Before receiving the transfer, I was struggling a lot in casual labor and would later spend all my income on paying for milk. I am happy that my family is currently enjoying the plentiful supply and has enabled me to work on other projects. My two children are in secondary school and I spent the rest of the money on school fees. I am grateful for the support and looking forward to a better future for my family."

"The second transfer was instrumental in boosting my livestock farming. For a long time, I had been buying milk for my family of four which was very expensive to manage by myself. Even though the burden reduced when I bought a dairy cow with part of the first transfer, I still had to add another one at KES 28000 from the second transfer. I am relieved that I am no longer buying milk but selling the surplus to my neighbors. I spent KES 10000 on opening a secondhand clothes-selling business that has so far been doing well. I had been buying in bulk and selling them in pieces from one market to the other. In addition, I spent the remaining amount on buying new pairs of clothes for my three children and also foodstuff for my household. My children were filled with joy when they see the changes in our household and we are all thankful for the generous support from GiveDirectly."

"I spent KES 45,000 on purchasing a dairy cow. I had never owned a dairy cow before, I used to get milk from my parents. I have a piece of land and my wish was to buy a dairy cow. This was not possible before because I did not have the money. The small amount I would get was only for basic needs and school fees. I did not have an extra amount to buy a dairy cow. When I received the transfer from GiveDirectly I purchase a dairy cow. I no longer depend on my parent like before. My children get enough milk unlike before. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has enabled me to fulfill my dream. I wish to improve this and make it my main source of income since I will be selling the extra milk to earn an income."

"Yes, after getting the second transfer I developed some goals that I aim to achieve once I get some money. If I get money, I plan to invest it in farming both crop farming and livestock farming. For livestock, I will specify goats raring because goats can cope well with the climatic condition in our area because they can survive in drought areas, unlike cows."

"My new goal is to buy a water tank. We are faced with a serious drought problem in our area that has led to continuous lack of water within our compound. This has often forced us to travel for long distances in search of water and which has been consuming a lot of time for my children since they have to travel for long distances in search of water. Getting a water tank will bring a long term solution to this problem and will bring the much needed comfort to my family. It may be a little hard to make this happen considering that we still struggle to put food on the table for our families but I am very optimistic that just as I was able to build a new house and buy a dairy cow, one day I will be able to buy a water tank."

"I used KES 10000 to buy basic household commodities and used another KES 45000 to buy a dairy cow. We already owned one dairy cow but we would be faces with shortage of milk before the year ends. This got us thinking of buying another dairy cow to supplement the produce from the first cow and see us have milk all year round. I am happy that this particular problem will now be a thing of the past and that we will be able to get extra money to make other valuable investments that would make our lives better. We are a young family of two and we rely on small scale business that would only see us have enough money for food and nothing for savings and this was an opportune time to make this investment."

"GiveDirectly does well in that it gives money to the poor in the community to build better houses, start various income-generating businesses and buy dairy cows among other best investments. This has improved their standard of living and enabled them to live better lives. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well."

"Most of the people who received the transfer spend it well and this has improved their standard of living. They are now living a better life unlike before. Most were able to pay school fees for their children in various schools, purchased dairy cows and invest in various businesses that earn them some income daily among many other projects."

"I used KES 23000 to buy a dairy cow and used the remaining amount to complete the construction of our new house. I chose to buy a dairy cow as an investment that will not only act as a savings plan for the future but will also feed my family. It shall always be a constant reminder of the support that I received from GiveDirectly too. Our first born child is joining secondary school soon and we are committed to doing everything possible within our means to pay their school fees and make them comfortable in school. We received the transfers from GiveDirectly when we were underway with the construction of our new brick walled house. The house was at the roofing stage and the second transfer was helpful in that we used it to do the roofing and to fix windows and doors. The construction of the said house is not yet complete but we are thankful that we have made tremendous steps towards it's completion."

"Even though I had numerous plans on receiving the first and the second transfer, I could not accomplish all since the cost of the top priorities was so high. Apart from the construction of new houses, paying school fees for my four children, and buying enough foodstuff for my household, I still had a dairy cow in mind that I could not afford at last. At the moment, I am working on that course even though it might take more time before I realize it."
