"In my opinion., GiveDireclty did really well in enlightening us. Most of my village members would have been taken advantage of pf by gullible business people. The advice form staff that we should approach markets with caution and exercising due diligence. This resulted in good buying decisions that have improved our economy."

"A larger portion of my transfer went to buying livestock. I now have goats and cows which I am keeping. Had it not been this money, I wouldn't have purchased any at my own cost. These are assets to me that I can readily lean on in case of a financial problem. I am expecting them to reproduce and have many of them. I will be selling milk that the heifers will be producing and earn an income." (Occupation: Small business)

"Running the two businesses has made more financially stable. To me, this is the biggest difference in my daily life. I always wanted to start a business but since I didn't have the required capital due to I was forced to rely on the low paying casual jobs. I am so happy now because the transfer has enabled me to buy a motorcycle and start a business of selling fish. Ever since I started the two businesses I have seen a great transformation in my life. I no longer struggle to pay fees for my children like before. Currently, I am paying I advance to avoid distractions of my kids being sent home. Apart from that, I also don't strain much in meeting my family's needs."

"Having my own dairy cow makes the biggest difference in my daily life. It has always been my desire to rear them in my homestead but I could not afford to buy them because of my financial status. I believe in the next few months I will be able to get some free milk which I will start selling the milk to the local market and then invest in the money so that I can another project like starting a business. I believe from that point I will have stabilized my income and I will be able to sort out any financial crisis that may occur. Paying school fees for my children will also be much easier."

"I spent part of my first transfer on buying some livestock such as two dairy cows. This has been my long time dream but since my income was low, I could not afford it. I later bought a few building materials such as some bags of cement, building poles, sand. This was for the purpose of renovating my house since ut was semi-permanent. I am so glad because all the walls are all well plastered. I alter cleared school fees for my children who have been sent home several times to collect fees. I also started the business of selling some vegetables and I believe the little profits I will be getting, will uplift my living standard. In addition to that, I also bought a small solar panel. Previously I was using some candles which were costly, I am now glad because I will also be charging my mobile phone and those of my neighbors at a fee."

"The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I was able to pay school fees for my two children in secondary school. I depend on scale farming to earn an income to meet the basic needs and also for the school fees for my children. I also run a small retail shop at home. The amount of money that I get through these two sources is so small and I was not able to pay school fees on time. My children would be sent home to collect the school fees and since I did not have ready cash they would stay home and this was affecting their performance. I used the money from the shop and the stock was going down I also closed it at some point. When I received the money from GiveDirectly I had no problem paying the school fees in that I could use the money to buy stock and the returns from the business I could pay school fees on time. My children would not be sent home like before and their performance improved. I'm so happy because my life has changed to be better."
