"Receiving this money means that I will invest more in farming, both poultry and diary keeping. I will spend about KES 40,000 on the chicken coop construction and buy about 20 chickens. From this, I will have a constant income of roughly KES 500 each day. I will be saving this .oney in order to be able to pay school fees for my grandchildren. I will then pay school fees for my children and buy a dairy cow with the remaining amount."

"Receiving this money will bring a big change in my life. I used to do poultry keeping and it was a sustainable source of livelihood for me. I used to sell every Saturday of the week and I was getting KES 900. Life was good then. Fate would strike sometime last year when there was an outbreak of newcastle disease that wiped my entire chicken of about 50. I was devasted and it took me a long time to accept the situation, from then my economic situation has been worse. I have desired to go back to the chicken rearing but it has not been possible due to lack of capital. Give Directly could not have come at a better time than this, I intend to use KES 20000 to buy new chicks and raise them and use the rest of the money to buy a dairy cow for subsidies on the poultry project."

"Financial challenges especially for paying school fees for my children have been giving me a lot of worries. This money will hand me a big boost because I plan to invest on their education. For the first transfer, I will use 1500 KES for school fees for my 3 children and the rest to buy 5 chicken at a cost of 300 KES each. The chicken will help me financially when I need a little money for the family's upkeep. This project will also help us as a family to start a savings group. The plan that we have already laid is to save 500 KES every month then share the savings among ourselves at the end of the year or decide on a project then we can initiate."

"I used to do poultry farming sometime back before I relocated to this place 4 months ago. I have always had a plan to start all over again because it used to help me a lot with family expenses. I plan to use this money to build a small poultry unit at a low cost because I already have iron sheets. One chicken costs 300 KES and with the 3,000 KES, I will buy 10 of them . I will be adding more as I continue receiving the transfers. My target is selling the chicken during market days so as to earn income to buy food and pay school fees for my children."

"Receiving this money will help me a lot in my medication. I was diagnosed with Tuberculosis a few months ago and I am yet to fully recover. My plan is therefore to spend 2,000 KES of the transfer to buy medicine. For my long term plans, I plan to start rearing chicken to help me with little expenses at home such as buying food."

"The month of April this year was of blessing to me because I reaped a lot from the sale of chicken to our muslim friends who were celebrating their Eid festive. This gave me a huge profit which I estimated to be 1000 KES. The amount helped me to buy food for my family something that brought us back smiles on our faces. Hence, I consider this to be the source of joy in my life."

"Loneliness is currently affecting me. I live alone in my household and daily chores are so many. If I could have married my daily household chores burden could be less. Secondly I have been trying to do poultry farming but in a month ago all my chicken were eaten by a wild animal. I am disappointed with such happenings because the activity was really picking."

"Relying on my husband's motorcycle riding occupation has proven difficult and no longer sustainable. My desire is to diversify my household's financial sources and I will do so by using KES 20,000 to starts a chicken rearing business in the village. There is a ready market from the hotels in the neighbouring towns and I foresee handsome profits. I will use the balance to buy goats for domestic rearing."

"My wife and I have an ambitious plan of rearing poultry on a large scale. From my casual jobs such as weeding people's farms to earn a living, I have managed to save KES 5000 for this project but this is still ways below my estimated target of KES 25,000. I have a flock of 6-chicken and I intend to add another 14 to make it 20 in total. Out of this business, I am sure of earning KES 300 profit from the sale of eggs per day. Receiving this money will enable me to start a poultry business which will give me financial independence."
