"What GiveDirectly does is well is giving us unconditional financial aid which has empowered people in the society in so many ways. People were able to dairy cows which will be their source of income in some few years to come, build some better houses and pay school fees for their children. I would tell them continue doing the great work that they normally does."

"I am hopeful that the cow that I bought will be able to produce milk in the next one year. This means that, I will have something to supplement my main source income and I will therefore be able to comfortably provide for my family. I am also looking forward to start saving towards buying more livestock especially sheep which multiply fast and are much tolerant to this climate."

"My main goal is to renovate my house. Currently, the iron sheets are very old and leak profusely during the rainy season. Apart from the renovation, I would like to start livestock farming as an investment. To achieve these two goals, I made an alternating plan for the transfers. This year, I will be spending $30 in all the even number months, specifically for the livestock and I save $20 in all the prime number months for the roof renovation. The house requires 12 pieces of iron sheets and I am pretty sure that by the end of the year, I will be having $120 which can facilitate that since an iron sheet goes for $9. And for the investment, I will also have a good number of goats since I buy a goat in every even number month. After this, the long-term plan is to convert the goats into cows. This is the dream investment I am planning for."

"The fact that I have been receiving have offered quite a huge help especially when it comes down to paying bills. The money has also enabled me to help my husband financially so that he is not always overwhelmed. For the future. I intend on using quite a substantial amount of the transfers to cater for tuition fees for my four children who are still in primary school while my husband looks after the other two in college. Givedirectly has also enabled mean to purchase two goats so far but I would also really love to own a cow, but since they're quite costly I will save up a portion of the money I get with every transfer and eventually when I have enough money I make the purchase."

"We are planning on purchasing some land where we can relocate and stay away from these areas as they are prone to landslides and water flowing from uphill. Even thou we arr not sure where we are going to relocate to, we shall start the searvh immediately we get the money. We are also planning on buying a cow which we can graze and avail us some milk that we can consume at home and also sell the surplus. Am planning on using about $ 1,111 on land and $ 416 on my cow. Will then use the remaining money to take care of my children."

"I had been buying at least 1.5 liters of milk per day for my family of four for a long time prior to receiving the first transfer. My two children could not sleep without a glass of milk, and even though the price of milk continued to rise to its current price of $1 per liter, we had to work hard with my spouse on casual labor and subsistence farming whose surplus could earn us money. We saw the second transfer as an opportunity to buy a dairy cow for $350. I am glad it did not take long for it to calve and is now producing enough milk for the household as well as a surplus of 2 liters for sale as an additional source of income. I also paid $40 for three sheep. Because I intend to breed them and sell the offspring later, this is a long-term investment that can also be used in an emergency. Even though I don't have a long-term spending plan, I am relieved that I will be financially secure when I need to start a new project. I spent $28 on a sack of dry maize grains for my family's food and the rest on kitchenware, including utensils, to replace the old and broken ones we had been using for the past five years."

"I would wish in the near future to buy two dairy cows, milk them and have my wife sell the milk as her business. This would in the future allow me to provide a better life for my kids than we can currently offer."

"My wife and I are both jobless , we depend on our children who are casual labourers for basic needs . When I received this transfer , my wife advise that we buy something that we would look at later and remember the generosity of Give Directly . So settled on a cow worth $165 . As we speak , it gave birth to one calf recently and I can't wait to start enjoying the milk , we will even be selling some . I spent $105 on three goats . I also hope they shall multiply in number soon . I chose cattle because later when my children complete their primary studies , I'll sell some cows or goats to pay for their secondary school studies . Previously , we used to sleep on traditional ropes and mat beddings , so I spent $35 and $41 to buy a mattress each for my children and myself respectively . Ihave six children in primary school , they had school fees balance of $30 , which I cleared . I also bought new school uniforms for each of them and this was worth $38 . Unfortunately , one of my children fell ill , I used $60 for his medical expenses , I'm glad that he is now doing fine . Finally , I spent the balance on food items which was mainly maize flour and vegetables ."
