"The main problem I have is lack of adequate care for the children. I worry a lot as they all depend on me because their father rarely sends money as he is in another area seeking better fishing grounds. If I do not find money then the kids always suffer."

"I am so happy to be enrolled in this programme. Our house has one bedroom despite us having alot of children. We have always wanted to have a bigger house that fits our family size but fishing has really not brought us enough money to build the house. This is an opportunity that this house should finally be built"

"Right now, it's difficult to get food. We usually go fishing and sell the fish to get money. Now that it is raining heavily and the water is full, it's difficult for us to do so."

"Receiving this money is a blessing to me and my family because it help to ease some of the challenges we face. We struggle to find food because we always have little harvest. I spend most my time at the lake fishing so that i can sell and buy food for my family but it is not easy to catch fish these days."

"The biggest hardship that I face is lack of money. Most of the jobs that I find do not pay a lot. I do piece work such as fixing fishing nets. It is a challenging job because I spend a lot of time working on a single fishing net and earn a little money."

"I face hunger every year and this is a problem which we do not even know if it will end. The main reason for this is because we do not have enough land to plant our crops as such the harvests is always little. The only alternative we have is fishing which has also been reduced due to unavailability of fish in the lake."

"Lack of food is the biggest challenge i face because i do not have a big garden to farm. I spend most of my time at the lake fishing as a way of making money when we sell. I usually eat once or twice a day but this is not what i would want."

"Receiving this money is a blessing for me and my family because i have never received this huge amount of money in my life. I am grateful to Give Directly on what it has done to me and the whole community. I believe my life will now improve as i will be able to use the money to buy fishing nets which will help me to catch more fish. If all goes well with this capital i know i will be able to buy a fishing boat very soon as i will be saving the money when i sell fish."

"I always face hunger every year because i do not harvest much because i spend most of my time at the lake fishing. My wife is the one who spends most of her time in the garden but she can not manage to do this on her own. This therefore reduces the labour which could have been used in the garden to harvest more. We do this because if do not go for fishing then we will not have money to use to buy other basic needs for the family. I try to fish so that i can sell some of the fish to have the money to use at home. Although it is like this we always face hunger as i also do not make much from fishing"
