Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was 7:00 in the morning the moment i received the transfer message i clearly remember that it was Thursday, and i was getting ready to go to the farm, then i heard my message tone and saw the transfer,oh my gosh i was super excited and i went to withdraw the cash right away.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since receiving this money is that i now have adequate food and I'm not worried about next year since we got us covered. We are very much happy to announce that we l eat three times a day, which is something we struggled to do before the coming in of transfers, the other big difference will be owning a house roofed with ironsheet, although the house is half way done I'm still counting it twice when counting my blessings, finally i will be sleeping peacefully coming this season and I'm grateful.I could never have afforded this because i don't even earn any money i just relay on farming for food.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Firstly i would love to thank this organisation for implementing this project here, most of us people in this village we are very poor,we have poor living standards with inclusivity of poor shelters, diet and dirty waters for example my self,I have been living in a very small house roofed with glass that always makes me sleep whilst standing during rain season because the glass fatched roof leaks so much ,during rain seasons i remove all my beddings and keep them some where safe from the leaking roof, and this lives me with no choice but to stand the whole night when its raining outside, and I'm no different with someone who is actually sleeping out side and this makes me feel pathetic. For this reason i have made a decision to begin with house project, since its not just a good house that i lack but also other essentials i decided to split the transfer, almost 80% went into the actual house project i had to buy bricks, ironsheet and other small necessities and the other 20% i have used it to buy matress,a blanket and 5 bags of maize for food which will cover us untill 2022.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money will assist us a lot in many ways we never expected. Our income is never that huge since my husband is a fisherman and am just at home in this period. I still do some casual labour during farming season as now there are no works around. I believe the money will enable us to finish the house as well as buy other items that we lack especially food. Even the children too will have fees for school too. I am very happy to get enrolled into this program. I believe our household will change for the better.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I consider each day of waking up to be a blessing. This is so as I take care of my grandmother too hence more responsibility for me. I make sure to move around the village looking for any work to earn and feed the family I am looking after.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main problem I have is lack of adequate care for the children. I worry a lot as they all depend on me because their father rarely sends money as he is in another area seeking better fishing grounds. If I do not find money then the kids always suffer.
