"I am planning on buying a calf that i can graze and later when it grows it becomes my security in case of any emergency. Am planning on raising that cow to provide milk for my family consumptions that my children can be healthy. Such a breed of a cow goes for about $278. Am also planning on buying land in kiholo Town Council which is safer as it is not affected by landslides and rock falls. Land in the council costs about $1388. On this land I will establish a house covered by 10 ironsheets of which each iron sheet is about $10. Incase of heavy brains, .y family can relocate to that house."

"I plan to buy a dairy cow worth USD789 which will provide us with milk for both domestic use and selling to get money that will help us acquire basic needs in order to reduce stress of thinking how to get food for my people and minimise hectic work that affects my health. I also think of purchasing two bulls at USD263 each for my two sons who will look after them and sell after some time in order to raise money for buying land and settle on their own. Then the balance of USD526 will support us build kirals where to keep these animals from under zero grazing so that thieves can not steal them."

"The first installment what we plan to do is buy clothes for ourselves and our children, we currently don't have any proper clothes and shoes to wear to church this will help us clean our looks. We also plan to build a kitchen, buy matress and beds. we will also renovate our house because it rains inside and we will pay for all debts we currently have including the solar panel that costed $70. The second installment we plan to buy a cow for $300 the balance we will buy food to eat. Receiving this money means getting the support we want because this will help us work for ourselves and not work for others to survive , we will no longer live uncomfortably and we will be able to rent enough land to cultivate and we will be able to pay for our medical bills without any struggle."

"My children have been able to get what to eat and we have been healthy for a while now and this is very pleasant for us. Recently we had an opportunity to have a cow to herd which is giving us milk and fertiliser to use in our land and it has brought some importance in our harvest and standard of living. We have an orphan Charlotte that we have raised for 17 years , she went to get her own life 5 years ago in another district but reality wasn't as she planned, she got pregnant unexpectedly and the father of the baby didn't want to help her , she had to come back living with us recently and we are currently thankful that her baby come to life safe and sound and this was a happy event for us because we gained another member in our family."

"Before the transfers, I never had cows before as I had no source of income. I used the transfers to buy female cows for kshs 35,000. I decided to buy female cows for milk production for my family's consumption and sale. I do casual work to earn a living and most of the time the pay is too little to cater for my basic needs, I do top it up with the money from selling milk and this has enabled me to take care of other basic needs like food, clothing and kids school fees. I used the remaining part of the transfers to buy a piece of three-seater furniture. I used to fear hosting friends and relatives as I never had enough seats for them, but my self-esteem has improved since I started receiving transfers from GiveDirectly."

"Since I had signed up for the program, my objective had been to use the transfers to buy cattle. As a preschool teacher, I am currently employed with the Parents Teachers Association. When the schools are open, I make $70 a month, but when they are closed for a holiday, I am not paid. I need to start saving now so that I can pay for my three kids' school expenses in the future. I like goats and cows because they have offspring every year, which increases their profitability. Additionally, when the cows give birth, we will be able to utilize them to plow our field and acquire enough milk for our family's usage, saving us money on labor costs. Since it's hard to save money, I'd prefer to buy the cattle."

"The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these transfers is the dairy cow that I bought. I now have enough milk from the dairy cow that I bought and with this I even get money to save from the small business that I run. My family is generally happier than we were before receiving the first transfer and we are so grateful for this. Our living standards have significantly improved as well."
