"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have added the stock to my business. I own a hardware shop and the stock was small. The amount of profit I would get was so small. I have so many responsibilities and it was not enough to gather for everything at once. When I received the money I added the stock and it has given me more profits unlike before .I'm so happy because I can now meet all the basic needs including paying school fees for the children in school. My children are no longer sent home to collect school fees because I pay on time. I'm so happy."

"The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I have been able to support my husband in paying school fees for our two children in high school. Before he used to do it all by himself this was too much burden on one person. When GD's transfers came in I was happy because I felt like I was going to be of help in paying our children's school fees."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I now have one extra house; an iron roofed house, big enough for all of us. I am excited that I will soon have an extra space for us since we currently use one house for all the activities. I am also glad that I can now harvest clean rain water from the iron roofs. Before, I used to go fetch water in a small pound and most of the time this water was dirty and and unhygienic at all. I am no longer worried about my children taking dirty water and falling ill. The school fees burden that I had was also lessened since I was able to pay some of the fees using the transfer. We also have sufficient food after buying maize in bulk. We initially used to buy food a day at a time and apart from being expensive to do that, we were sometimes unlucky to have food and it would force us to sleep hungry."

"The biggest difference is that I am now hopeful of living in my own home. Through the transfers I got from Give Directly I have already bought the necessary building materials. I have also managed to pay school fees for my children and they can now attend school undisrupted. Initially, I only used to depend on casual jobs. The money I got from these jobs was enough to buy basic needs. I used to save nothing towards this goal therefore there were slim chances of establishing my home. I am happy that soon I will be living with my family in our homestead."

"I spent my transfer on paying school fees arrears for my children so that they may not be sent home for the same. Before the transfers, they would be sent home regularly and I did not want a repeat of the same after getting my transfers. Before the transfers, I used to spend at my brother's house because I did not have my own. This is why I used my transfers to buy building materials which I used to finish constructing my own house. Right now I am independent and I have some privacy now that I have my house."

"My life is different that how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I now live comfortably. Before, we were living in an old house that its roof was leaking during the rainy season. Due to this, it was always difficult for us to have a sound sleep during this season as it was always very cold. Also, my children have never been sent back home like they used to before hence they have been able to concentrate on their studies. This has been possible because I was able to use my transfer to clear paying their school fees."

"Receiving this money will enable me to complete constructing my house which i have built it half way. My two children will be joining college in two months time thus this money has also come in handy to support me in paying their first school fees. I also plan to buy a 1000 litre water tank for harvesting clean water in my homestead during rainy seasons"

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I paid school fees for my children in university. I depend on the casual jobs in the village and small scale farming to get an income to meet all the basic needs of the family. My children were sent home and sometimes when I had money they could be sent home and this was affecting their performances in school. I could struggle so much to get the money. I used to wake up very early in the morning and come back late at night and this was making me not bond well with my family. I cleared the school fees and this made my children to sit for the exams .I'm so happy and I have devoted much of my time to do my daily work."

"Upon receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly, I have been able to accomplish a lot which in my feeling have really changed my life. The biggest difference in my daily life in the past four months is the complete payment of school fees for my child. He had stayed home for such a long time since he was lacking school fees but with the help we received from GiveDirectly, he was able to resume his studies which was a great change in our household."

"Had it not for the transfers from GiveDirectly, I wouldn't have bought seats for the newly built house. We are currently unashamed of inviting visitors because we now have a place for them to sit on. I also record that our child have peaceful study time since we no longer fail to pay his school fees in time. I am very hopeful that he will pass in their exams, and they will be important. I also have a source of income from the sale of milk which came out of the cow that was bought. The milk is also food to my children hence I would not spend most of the money in procurement of milk for family use."
