"This money means freedom to concentrate on farming than ever before. This is so as I usually fail to harvest enough food as most of the effort goes towards doing casual labour to earn an income. Since I am living alone at the time being,it means not much effort is left to focus on farming which leaves crops unattended. In the end, I usually harvest a little . My husband rarely sends money home ever since he went to South Africa. This leaves me with a huge responsibility to take care of the children. I engage in small business of selling vegetables which I order for MWK2000 (Malawi Kwacha) and sell for a profit of MWK1000. This is enough to use for at least five days when I have maize flour available. I believe the money will ease most of the problems I face. I will make sure I buy enough food for the children, pay school fees as well seek new opportunities of starting another good business. In this way, I will no longer be looking forward to my husband for assistance which rarely comes. I even believe he found another wife and has children now."

"The biggest hardship that I face is that I do not earn enough money. I depend on selling maize and vegetables to make money. Making money depends on good rains.I suffer a lot in the times that we have bad rains because it means that I will not harvest a lot of farm produce and this means little money fo food and no school fees for my children."

"The biggest hardship I face is not having enough money to meet my basic needs. My two children dropped out of school because I couldn't afford to pay their secondary school fees. One child dropped when she was in form four whilst the other one dropped when she was in form One."

"I am a farmer. I've lived all my life on subsistence farming. However, farming have not brought any significant improvement in my life. I can barely raise money to send my kids to school. If I received the GD money, I will start a "dry goods" business for my wife to run while I continue the farming. This will help us gather food for the home while at the same time raise money for school fees and other necessities."

As you can see, we force to manage in this house because we don't have the hand now to build a better house. I'm also so worry about my children education. We have to burn charcoal for survival at the same time Carter for our children school fees."

"I have been faced with so many problems over the years, because of the many children that I have currently. If I'm successful for this program, my husband and I will plan to pay our children school fees as also plan to make business with some of the money. We have also been making plans in how to build our own house so if the money is plenty to help us to that, we will also use some to do so."
