"Receiving this money means that I can successfully fight food insecurity in my household. I usually grow food crops but on very small piece of land because I have to till it manually using hand-held hoes. When I get this money, I will use a tractor so that farm at least one acre to grow maize. I will therefore have more food for the household. I will also buy a dairy cow to provide milk for family consumption as well as to earn an income through selling some of it. I will then be able to pay school fees for my children in various secondary schools."

"We receive low rainfalls does farming is not a reliable economic activity to rely on leaving most my community with casual jobs to rely on. I am a widow with six children to take care of and since all of them are in various schools, my life hasn't been easy. I walk at least six hours day to and from my casual job place this makes me so tired and the little we are paid isn't enough to comfortably meet my family needs. When I receive my cash transfer, I will use KES20000 to pay my children school fees since it will relieve me the daily burden and my children will have good time in school to study hence have good results to see them join colleges. I am planning to spend another amount to build a more spacious and decent house a goal I have been denied by scares resources to achieve."

"I have desired to invest in livestock because is the only way I can save my money to earn profit when I sell them after they multiply. I therefore intend to start with 10 goats that will cost me KES 30000 of my first transfer. The remaining amount of my first transfer will cater for food expenses and other household needs. With the second transfer, I plan to construct a separate house to accommodate me and my children. I currently share a house with my cowife something that does not give me a piece of mind. I will use KES 30000 to ensure the house is complete. The remaining amount will help me to pay school fees for my son in high school, hence improve his performance in school."

I will further use the remaining amount of my transfer to buy 2 indegious dairy cows for milk consumption and sell the surplus to earn income. The income from my livestock will help me to pay school fees for my children."

"Receiving this money means improved living standards for my household. This is because I and my husband depend on a charcoal-burning business which gives us little return-KES 700 per week which is not enough for our basic needs. I am planning to spend KES.30000 to buy ten indigenous goats and KES 30000 to buy two indigenous cows and an ox plough. This will help me to cultivate my farm and hire to my neighbors for income. The remaining amount will help me cater to other basic needs such as food and paying school fees for my son."

"Receiving this money would mean uninturupted studies for my children. I have been struggling to pay school fees for my 2 children who just joined high school this year. I am required to pay KES. 24,000 for the whole year which I cannot raise. The casual jobs I do can earn me KES. 6000 in a month. I have to divide this amount among our needs and it only remains KES.2000 for school fees afterwards. My children have been in and out of school every other month because they are sent home due to the arrears I have. I plan to use all these transfers to pay their school fees and their education will be secured for all the time they'll be in high school. I am so grateful to Give Directly."

"Receiving this money means capital accumulation, good housing and self employment. I am planning to use a total of KES 20,000 to purchase 10 goats. This will make me a proud owner of 17 goats in total. Being a livestock keeper, I have seen how beneficial goats can be. The goats will act as a source of income for me. In 2 years time, the goats will have multiplied, when a problem arises that requires money ( hospital bills, school fees for my children),I will no longer be bothered, I will just sell some few goats to settle that particular problem. I will then use KES 20,000 to expand my house. I have a family of 3 children, 2 of my children are sleeping with their grand mother due to how small our house is. Once I expand it, it will able to comfortably host us all. I also have a small business of selling petrol to motorcycle operators here in the village. I am planning to use a total of KES 20,000 to build a separate structure for this particular business. Currently, I sell the petrol in small bottles and I store it in the house we sleep in with my family which is so dangerous. The money that will remain will go into our savings account."

"We've been building our homestead since last year. Our house is almost finished but our kitchen is not cemented and the roofing is done delicately because the capital we had for construction of both was not enough. We had hoped to complete it so that it can act as a guest room whenever we have guests since it's spacious. For completion of the kitchen we'll need about KES 40,000 for building materials such as iron sheets, cement and sand. The remaining transfer will be used to buy a dairy cow and pay school fees for our child."

"My life is now different since I now have something that can bring income to me unlike before I only depended on salary. Having a cow is a long term investment that will not only help me but also my children mostly when I sell its offsprings to pay their school fees. I am also fulfilled since I was able to furnish my house hence creating a homely environment in my house. This could not have been possible now since furniture's are very costly and required displined saving which was not possible because of my meagre salary."

"My life is now different since Give directly transfers have allowed me to live in peace. My child school fees was troubling me a lot not to mention the land debt I had. This needs taken care off brought happiness to me and my family. Apart from my needs being taken care of very soon I will have a continuous source of income from selling milk from the cow I bought with this transfers. Surely my life has been totally transformed and I am a different person now."
