"My household has been depending on my husband who is employed as a security watchman to provide for all our basic needs since I am not working. With our second transfer, I spent $400 to purchase one dairy cow that has been producing milk and thus saved me from buying milk daily. I have been selling to my neighbors the excess milk and using the money to buy food and other household stuff for daily use. Two of my three children who are in school had a fee balance of $100 that I cleared with part of the transfer. With the remaining $30, I replenished depleted foodstuff in the household. My family has benefitted immensely from GiveDirectly's generous cash assistance, which I am grateful for."

"At the moment, I have a new goal to expand the current livestock farming I have been running. After buying two dairy cows with the second transfer, I expect an increase in milk production from my cows. This project will ensure an uncomplicated payment of school fees for my children and providing other basic needs when I get a family of my own."

received a $436 second payment.
"Before the transfers, I never had cows before as I had no stable source of income. I used the transfers to buy female cows for kshs 35,000. This is for milk production for my family's consumption and sale. I do casual work to earn a living and most of the time the pay is too little to cater for my basic needs, I do top it up with the money from selling milk and this has enabled me to take care of other basic needs like food, clothing and kids school fees.
I used the remaining part of the transfers of kshs 20,000 to buy a piece of three-seater furniture. I used to fear hosting friends and relatives as I never had enough seats for them, but my self-esteem has improved since I started receiving transfers from GiveDirectly."

"Shortages of sustainable livestock feeds were my undoing for dairy farming. To arrest this challenge I decided to plant Napier grass and grass for my cows. It was until when I received the second transfer that I choose to buy a chuff cuter worth KES 48000 to enable me to manufacture silage for my livestock. This machine made my work seamless unlike before when I was doing it manually. I am grateful that it takes me a short time to make enough feeds for my cows. Now I can produce up to five liters of milk daily which is a milestone for me and my family. Being a champion of education, I also considered buying my children story books and school uniforms. This will enhance the quality of education for my children."

"I am filled with happiness every moment I walk around my farm. I now own livestock which was my dream. When I received my second transfer I prioritized investing KES 40000 to purchase sheep and a cow. I am now confident that I will no longer struggle to put food on the table for my family of three. I will be easily selling milk and other livestock products to earn a living."

"My ambition is to buy a daily cow so that I can have two. This would relieve me of the need to buy milk daily while also providing an additional source of income. To ensure that this dream comes true, I intend to invest more in them the goat's project by properly managing them so that they can multiply and eventually be turned into a cow."

"When I receive the cash transfer, I will sit down with my husband and plan for it accordingly because for now we are not sure if we shall get that transfer, it actually a dream to us.
However I may buy a cow so that my children can be taking milk, I will also pay school for the whole year and use the rest of the money to buy land .I am not sure of the prices yet.
For now am praying so hard that it comes to reality and I receive the money then we shall see what to do with it."

"The plans I have when I get the cash transfer is first to buy an expensive cow worth 500 US dollars, because this kind of cow is able to provide enough milk for sell on a daily basis that will helpme get basic needs for myself and be ableto get treatment,I am also looking at the because I have the grandchildren that will be grazing it for me.
Then I will use the remaining cash of around 1600 US dollars to secure a peace of land somewhere."
