"I bought a solar lighting kit months back which has brought a very huge difference in my life withing the months that I have had it. Our house is now well lit and my children who will sit for their national examinations this term can now read for longer hours and with a lot of ease. I also bought chickens that I can later benefit from when they reproduce well enough to be sold."

"I am no longer stressed because I got some money to deposit for the piece of land that I had started paying for. Secondly, I now have solar light in my home. My children feel happy and they thanked me for buying the solar because even when it becomes dark they can still continue playing. Prior to receiving the transfer, the land seller was giving me pressure to pay more money which I did not have. I was also using a torch for light yet dry cells we expensive to buy."

"So far, I pride myself in having invested part of my transfers on important things such as livestock, education and even a solar lighting kit that has made it easy for my children to read at night. Even though these are good enough to show the impact of the transfers in my life, I would like to add more goats with some of my remaining transfers because they will eventually reproduce and I will have a bigger change in years to come after the program."

"Comparing my life with how it was four months ago, I can attest that it has really changed. From the solar lighting system that never existed before and is now in place to the relief that I got by reducing the amount of casual labor that I engage in as I struggled to get income to meet my daily needs. My farming has really improved since I have improved my farming methods by resorting to machinery unlike in the past when I relied on hand tools to practice farming. This has led to increased food production where I get surplus food for sale."

Sarah received a $22 eighteenth payment.
"After clearing the payment on a solar lighting kit I had purchased on credit last year, I was finally able to save some of my transfers which I combined to some of my savings and bought a seat. I had only two chairs in my house because we had been unable to buy more due to low income. It was always tough because whenever there was a visitor I had to borrow more chairs from my in-law or one of us would have to sit on a jerrycan. The joy I feel after buying the chair is unexplainable because my house is no longer as empty as it looked before and I do not feel ashamed to invite anyone in anymore. I am so grateful to Give Directly for totally changing my life because all that I have managed to do so far courtesy of the transfers would have been impossible."

"At the beginning of this year, after saving my transfers for a while, I was finally able to buy a solar lighting kit that we now use in our house for lighting. This has brought a great difference in our daily lives as we no longer use the kerosene lanterns that produced lots of smoke yet were very dim. My entire house is now well lit and my children can now comfortably and clearly read at night. My daily budget has also gone down because do not have to buy kerosene on a daily basis as I did before."

"I have plans for constructing a chicken pen or an enclosed area for my poultry. So far, I have about forty local breed chickens that are currently roaming free during the day which puts them at a high risk of contracting diseases or even getting stolen as I cannot monitor them. To ensure their safety I will use the transfers to buy the required materials to construct the chicken pen as soon as I have completed paying for the solar lighting kit that I bought on credit."

Peris received a $510 second payment.
"I spent part of the second transfers I received from Give DIrectly to purchase a dairy cow. Ever since I got married we had never owned a cow. We have been buying milk for a long time now which is usually very expensive. I am glad because we now have our own cow. At least we will now reduce our expenses since we will now be getting free milk. Apart from that, I also spent some amount to buy furniture, mattress and feeds for my livestock. Lastly, I used some of the remaining amounts to purchase a solar lighting system. This will save us from buying kerosene which is usually expensive and not environmentally friendly."

"My life is currently different because I have acquired a lighting system for my home. For the last four months, I have been using the transfers to make monthly installments that have enabled me to own a solar lamp. My children have enough time to study at home in the evening without disruption. Initially, we used to share a paraffin lamp that would not allow them to have enough time to study at night. Moreover, the use of paraffin was more expensive and this would sometimes lead to unavailability of the goods for my household. The solar lighting systems are so powerful it can even be used for powering a TV when I get one! It is a cheaper and better source of light for my household than the paraffin lamp."

"My biggest plan is to buy a solar lighting system using my next transfers so that I can have something to be proud of at the end of GD project and also move away from using the toxic kerosene lamps are also very dim. I will buy those types that are usually sold on credit so that I can use the transfers for the remaining months to clear off the remaining amount because I am not able to pay for it in full."
