Kasichana received a $412 second payment.
"When I got the second transfer, I was going through a difficult time. I was so ill that I was unable to leave the house to work and support my family. I prioritized getting the right care, and I spent at least $100 on medication. I also bought a cow for $260. I decided to invest by purchasing the cow. My children had some unpaid school fees, so I made a $100 payment for them so they could continue their education. I was compelled to use the remaining money only for food, ensuring that my family had access to regular meals."

"It has been quite difficult for me to pay for my two school-going children's fees since I am a widow. As a result, when the year began, I set a goal of concentrating on paying school fees for my two sons. I intend to keep focusing on that main objective until my sons achieve their academic pursuits. After that, I will consider raising livestock; goats and cows. I equally value livestock because they are of great benefits even to our surrounding community."

"I had always wanted to have livestock i.e cows that will be of help during farming, but due to the lack if finances, I have never been able to. My plan was to save part of my monthly transfers so that one day I would have the required amount to purchase the cows. With the animals in place, I would also be hiring them out at a certain amount to those who might require the services."

"I am very excited and very overjoyed, I wish you could come and see what I have done with the money. When I first started getting transfers from GD did not spend any of my money. I have saved from August 2022 to January 2023 in collaboration with my wife and we have built a house. We used to live in the kitchen together with the animals but now we have our own home which even has a verandah and is two roomed. It is very cozy if you come by you can sit at the verandah and the sun will not burn you. I added some money from what my wife was also saving and I sold a cow which went for $200. I bought 21 sheets of iron at $9.5 each and bought poles for building at $1 each. I also paid the mason $55."

"I used to collect stumps and burn them for charcoal but in December I got an accident that has one of arms in constant pain. I was hit buy a cow which also tramped on me, my hand was in a cast for months but even after the cast was removed I still feel a lot of ain that means I am taking pain killers all the time. I am now unable to engage in this and so I do not have an income. I had hoped to use this money to help improve my house but since I have children in school and a form four who will be finishing school this year I have that plan on pause. I however want to use this money to buy animals such as goats which can reproduce and give more animals that I can sell for money so that I am able to educate my children especially the one in form four."

"The investment of the transfer proceeds toward the purchase of goats will be my greatest accomplishment this year and moving forward. I currently have 8 goats in total, and my goal is to increase this herd to a sizable size. The proceeds from the sale of some of the goats will then be used to purchase cows. The price of a cow can range from $50000 to $80000. This sum is enormous and can address many of my issues. Many cows equal a lot of wealth that can be cashed in at any time."

"My goal this year is to get to a point that I can afford to secure my own motorcycle which will ensure I increase the amount of money I make daily. As I had mentioned earlier I am saving monthly $30 of my transfer which is getting me closer to my goal. I also want to go back to animal farming. I used to have chicken before and the number had greatly increased, when I has 50 chicken, I exchanged 10 for a goat until I got 6 goats. This goats gave birth to young ones which grew and after selling them I got to owning two cows which unfortunately died due to the drought. I now want to start rearing chicken and my hope is as the year progresses I will get to this numbers which will allow me go back to where I used to be with my animals."

"With the current homemade toothbrush business I have been doing in the community, which earns me at least $5 per day, I hope to keep adding the stock, even though they are currently hard to come by because most of the trees are slowly drying up due to the current adverse drought. I expect to save extra income from my daily proceeds in the coming year with the goal of acquiring a dairy cow. This will not only reduce the cost of milk but will also provide an additional source of income because I will sell the surplus milk to my immediate neighbors and make enough profit that will be able to sustain my family."

"Before GD came I used to hunt for tree stumps to make charcoal, it is not an easy task. I would hunt and would only come by these stumps rarely and I could only make $8 from a stump. Now I am receiving a significant transfer amount from Givedirectly. I am able to use this money to buy animals and my hope is to increase them to a point I can own goats and cows. I have now 10 chicken which some have young ones while others do not. My hope is they increase in number and then I can sell them off and afford buying a goat of a cow. Keeping animals will be a good investment for me and my family."

"I believe all my hard work will pay off someday and it will not be in vain that I wake up early and I sleep late. My job does not bring in a lot of profit so I want to invest in something else so that at the end of time I will have a variety of sources that bring me profit. I want to start by buying a lot of chicken and when they hatch I can easily sell them and buy goats. When I buy goats they can easily multiply. When they do so, I get enough to sell and buy dairy cows and bulls. I really want to get a bull and a cow so that I can use the bull till my land and the dairy cow I milk them and drink the milk and the remaining milk I easily sell them. The selling of milk will bring in some profit and the bull will help me save my energy and at times I can rent it to someone and get paid at the end of day. This will help me easily multiply my wealth without incurring a lot of cost."
