"GiveDirectly has made a difference in my life. I've accomplished things I didn't think I'd be able to do anytime soon. I now have a solar panel that provides energy to our home at a low cost. This has made us feel connected to the community and the country at large, through our mobile phones, where we are reachable unlike before, and also because we have a radio, which allows us to get information about what is going on in the country. It has also spared us from the costly cost of kerosene, which is what we previously used; we were occasionally left in the dark due to the fact that we did not have enough money to buy kerosene. People in our community have advanced as well. This is evident in the fact that people have built better houses, that those who were struggling to pay school fees have paid them all this time, and that those who did not have cows have purchased one or two through the transfers. As a result, I'd like to express our gratitude to GiveDirectly for having affected our lives in various ways."

"I put the most recent transfer that I received to cover the most pressing needs in our household. I spent $250 on secondary school fees for my son and daughter. As a farmer on leaseholds in Nakuru County, where my husband is currently employed, and a small business owner of a restaurant in a local shopping center, I have relied on both incomes to pay for my children's education. I was able to ensure that my children's schooling was not disrupted by this recent transfer. I also spent $200 to buy a cow. I made this purchase with the idea of supplementing my family's income in the future. I also spent $200 to buy a cow. I made this purchase with the idea of supplementing my family's income in the future. As a farmer, I already owned two cows but needed another to boost milk output and sell to earn extra money. This cow will also help me pay for future school fees. Finally, I utilized the remaining monies to buy food for my family of six. I invested the recent transfer in my children's future education, generating more income while also ensuring appropriate sustenance for my family."

"I have always desired to own cows but financial constraints and lack of relevant resources have been a major obstacle. There are so many benefits that I could rip from owning cattle. I could sell the milk they produce as well as hire them out for plowing tasks to raise funds. However, the far my income, from selling chewing sticks, can take me is secure food for my wife and four children; I cannot afford to buy cows with it. In the next few years, I hope to have saved enough money from the cash transfers to obtain at least 5 calves and let them grow.  "

"My wish is to pull my family out of poverty and lift the heavy burden off of my mother’s shoulders. She has suffered for a long time and struggled to make charcoal to provide for my five siblings and me; it is time I took over. After I complete high school this year, I want to initiate a project of rearing goats and cows. I believe that building wealth through livestock is the surest way to bring prosperity to my family. As the herd grows, I could sell some of these animals to support the education of my five siblings who are still in primary school. "

"With the current amount offered to households, an immense change can be seen. Houses have been upgraded from grass-thatched to iron-roofed, dairy cows have been bought, and assets have been added at large. Lives have changed, so to say, thanks to GiveDirectly. It is only my appeal that the transfer amount be increased and prolonged to cater to other needs that have not been met."

"I spent $440 of the transfer to purchase a dairy cow that I had been longing for, as I did not own one previously. I used to buy milk from the village, which was both expensive and often adulterated with dilution or added powder, rendering it unsuitable for consumption. Currently, my family of seven is able to enjoy the two liters of milk provided by the cow daily, which we can consume comfortably with the assurance of its safety. With the remaining funds, I paid off an outstanding debt that I had taken out earlier to cover my son's diploma education fees. I am relieved to no longer receive frequent reminders from the lender, and feel a sense of peace now that the debt has been cleared."

"I established a livestock farming aim after making use of the second transfer as I had intended. I want to buy cattle, particularly goats. Because of the climate in our area, I decided to raise goats rather than cows. Cows cannot endure hard conditions, but goats can. This investment will help me support my family because goats are easily convertible into cash and have a ready market due to their lower cost than cows and sheep."

"I purchased livestock, two cows and two goats, and I expect them to multiply by the end of the year, allowing me to become a great farmer in the near future. I'm also looking forward to finishing my house and making more room for visitors and even in-laws who want to stay for more than a day. Furthermore, this house will allow us to present a different image to those who have previously known us. We are progressing for the betterment of our lives."

"By the time I got the second transfer, my secondary school student had already been sent back home. I promptly paid the remaining $100 in his tuition fees since I respect his education. He has returned to school and is currently making academic progress. I then decided to spend $130 on a cow. Since I wanted to invest in cow ranching, this was something I had long desired. Every time the cow reproduces, it will not only add to the herd but also supply some milk for my family. When I had finished doing that, I decided to finish building the house I had begun using the first transfer. I spent $5 on roofing timbers and $49 on five iron sheets to make up for the missing building supplies. The contractor's work cost me $150. I bought meals for my family using the remaining money."

"I have always had a strong desire to expand my dairy project, but unfortunately, financial constraints have stood in the way of realizing this dream. However, I have come up with a plan to overcome this obstacle. Instead of directly expanding my dairy project, I have decided to focus on expanding my poultry farming. I plan to breed more hens, sell them, and then use the proceeds to eventually transition into dairy farming by converting the earnings from the poultry sales into cows. This approach will allow me to generate additional income and gradually work towards my goal of expanding my dairy project, despite the initial financial limitations."
