"I want to invest in education. I cleared high school last year, I want to pursue a course in catering. I want to learn some basic skills in cooking and baking. Thus will come in handy when I open my own hotel. I also want to prepare meals that are not common in Mathare.
Secondly, I want to open a hotel business. This is where I will get my income, be able to assist my mother in boosting her business and even build a house for her back in the village.
Lastly, I want to invest in my sisters' education. My mother has struggled so much in paying our school fees, and my sisters are constantly chased out of school. I want to be able to see that they study smoothly."

"My day normally starts at five o'clock in the morning. Immediately after preparing breakfast and seeing my kids off for school, I head straight to the shamba for my usual tillage. This goes up until five in the evening with a lunch break around noon. Evening is always my favorite part of the day. I feel happy to see my children back from school in good health. At this time also, I take my time to assist with their homework and their desire for education inpires me a lot."

"I have two children who completed collage in the year 2014 yet they are still unemployed. I was yearning to see my children getting the education that would in turn get them employed and this forced me to sell cattle and a piece of land which i initially used to practice my dairy farming in. All that worries me is when my children will get employed in order for them to survive on their own as well as buy me back the piece of land i had sold earlier to enable me to continue with my farming."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in life is lack of enough money to buy food and pay School fees. I have five School going children and all are in Primary School where I pay around Ksh 5,000 a year. As a house wife, I solely depend on my husband's wages which is hardly enough for our household consumption and meet education expenses. My husband normally does a casual work such as working on other people's farms like digging, fencing, among other small jobs which he earns between Ksh 400 to Ksh 500 a day. "

"My most troubling worry is always about my family since as a father my income is always very low and I have been striving to make ends meet and also to ensure that my children got better education than the one I received since personally I never got opportunity to get education.
I also do worry about health issues where by at times when I feel sick I am always unable to go to work And the casual jobs I does requires a lot if energy and fitness. "

"Receiving this money is a dream come true. GD is indeed heaven sent. I have always desired to have a stable source of income that can cater for the needs of my children that is; good shelter, quality education, health care and stable supply of food. I will invest my first transfers in raising and breeding of domestic goats. Goats multiply at a higher rate - twice a year- making it the most valuable investment. For the second transfers, I will use it to build a house for my kids. The one we are currently using is leaking thus subjects my kids to cold everytime it rains."
