"My top concern is unemployment because, not being able to have a job and an income, limits me to meeting my needs financially. Unemployment also results to poverty and I may not be able to offer or provide the basic daily needs for myself and my family. That includes better education for my children."

"First priority will be investing in my business, ever since I was young it has also been a talent and passion in hair styling, but due to financial reason, I couldn't afford renting a shop whereby I use my verandah as place of business, I find it to be challenging, especially during raining seasons where I do not operate my business, hence I will use part of transfers to rent a shop.Second priority I will use part of transfers to educate my children, to me its important to give them education because I strongly believes that, if they study and get good job they will give back to me by helping me in big projects like building my house. Third priority I will use part of transfer by helping my mother to improve her house, because now she is concentrating in educating my siblings but her house is nearly to collapse."

"I rely mostly on casual jobs such as mixing cement and sand at construction sites. This is quite unreliable because it is not permanent and I only do it less than ten days in a month. The income is insufficient since I am the only bread winner and I earn less than 10,000 shillings a month. I am planning to revive my livestock business which I was doing earlier but I stopped due to lack of enough capital. This business will generate more income that will meet food and educational needs for my family. Through the profit, I will also purchase oxen that I will use to plough my land to enhance food security and also for commercial purposes to improve my financial stability."

"I suffered from tetanus for six months. This condition drained our financial resources because my parents spent more money to cater for my medical needs. They even sold our four goats to see me through a medical surgery at Mariakani Sub-County hospital. This really affected our financial stability and I could not continue with education in high school thus opted to do tailoring in a village polytechnic. "

"My husband works as a taxi driver in Mombasa. He earns very little and can only manage to send home 1000 shillings monthly. This money is not enough to cater for all the needs of my family such as food, clothing and education. Receiving this money therefore means I will be able to start an incoming generating activity to enable me get an extra income to sustain my family. I will buy two dairy cows, I will then sell the milk produced in Mariakani market where it will fetch a higher price. "

"Receiving this money will enable me to start a business of buying and selling goats at Bamba market. This is because the goat business usually thrives during the festive seasons and during occassions like funerals. I will be able to capitalize on those events so that I can be able to pay school fees for my children for them to complete their education while I also earn a living. "

"The biggest hardship I face in my life is that my husband died long time ago leaving behind children who needed school fees, food and clothes which unfortunately I could not provide for them. Being not able to attain basic education, it has been difficult for us to get meaningful employement hence subjecting us to poverty while living from hand to mouth. "
