How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it was in that, my burden has reduced. I normally sell milk to supplement the amount that I get from selling farm produced to take care of my daily needs. I can also sell some when emergencies arise. I am glad that I do not depend on farming alone.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did a good job by giving us the unconditional transfer which greatly lifted our living standards. We were able to buy livestock and houses that we had yearned to own.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
Being a single mother has been difficult just because all the responsibilities were on my back. I had been depending on farm produce only. At times I ended up selling them when a need arose and this made me go back to menial jobs that were not paying well. I saw myself lucky in many aspects when I was enrolled in the program since I knew that I was going to take care of my goals. Buying a cow and two goats have been a blessing because they have already reproduced. Today, my burden has reduced since I sell the cow milk to get money for basic needs and consume the goat milk which is nutritious for my children. I can also easily sell when an emergency arises. The remaining amount t was spent on building a decent spacious.
