How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has improved in that, I built an iron roofed house and renovated my old one as well. Before, I slep in a dusty house which couldn't accomodate my family. But I'm glad that I managed to construct another which has improved my living standards.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by giving me unconditional cash transfers that have brought devolopement in my family hence happiness. There is nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer to buy construction materials such as bricks, cement, rocks, sand etc for building an iron roofed house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the beauty I see in my home since I was able to renovate my house and put chairs in it and build a personal pit latrine. I no longer have to go to my neighbors place to ease myself.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt so happy that I was taking my house to another level after renovating it. It had taken me seven years my house without windows and very rough.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer Ugx 1450000 to buy some building materials such as two trips of sand, two trips of bricks, fifteen bags of cement, three window and paid labor that helped me to renovate my house and build a pit latrine. I then used the balance of Ugx 250000 and bought some household items such as bed, mattress, chairs and one big sauce pan.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money I will be able to fully furnish my house. It is not complete for now and I believe its a chance for us to sleep in a nice house. I also intend to use part of it to construct a pit latrine for my home. We have one right now but also incomplete. We also want to use part of it to educate our children. As we speak now some children are at home because we have failed to raise tuition, it will be a chance for us to take them to school so that they can get a bright future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon when every one is relaxing after having lunch. It gives me joy because atleast food is found for all.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is limited land for agriculture. We were only given two acres of land that are not able to produce enough harvest for feeding the family and for sale.
