How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that, I have been in position to plaster my house and I am now sleeping in clean descent house which has made me very happy. Previously, I had constructed my permanent house but it wasn't plastered because I was constrained by our children's education.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well to give me money that I used to plaster my house and pay for my children's education. GiveDirectly has not done anything bad on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase a trip of aggregate, 20 bags of cement and paid construction workers who were plastering my house. Furthermore, I spent part of the money to buy utensils, clothes, harvesting my crops and my spouse took UGX 500,000.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest in my daily life is that, I have been in position to take my children back to school in time. Furthermore, I have bough materials that I intend to use for plastering and cementing the floor of my house. I expect to sleep in decent clean house, free from dust once the plaster and the floor is worked on. Before receiving this transfer, I didn't have enough money to buy cement and sand since the money I got was used to pay my children's school fees and buying food.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Upon receiving my money from GiveDirectly, I was overwhelmed my joy and thank God for this gift of cash because I was very sure that I would plaster my house and pay children's school fees.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to purchase 30 bags of cement at UGX 763,000, wheel barrow at UGX 150,000, 3 hoes at UGX 28,000, 2 jerrycans at UGX 9,000 and transport at UGX 45,000. Furthermore, I paid my children's school fees at UGX 350,0000 and bought clothes at UGX 100,000 for my children. I have not yet spent UGX 255,000 but I am planning to spend it to pay construction workers.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will renovate my house and acquire an animal as an investment. I currently sleep in a house that is not complete and I do not have a source of income for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happy in the morning because I am able to find what my family will feed on. In the afternoon, things change because I can not find some money on order to change the diet for my family which stresses me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of a stable source of income for paying school fees for my children. I struggle a lot to balance between food for the family and to be sold in order to pay school fees for the children which gives me stress.
