How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My house broke down several years ago and I've been living with my son eversince then. My foremost goal now is to build a house of my own, a modern and spacious one too.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly in my opinion is the best and they do everything well and differently too. Giving us cash transfers to better our lives is so much well done. There is nothing I can point at that they don't do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With my most recent transfers, I bought zinc, nails and other building materials as well as sent some to my children in the city going to school. I plan on using the rest along with my next transfer to buy more things for the building construction.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I have been living in a house with a thatch roof since I was born. My prayer has always been to live in a modern house. I couldn't afford building a modern house for myself. I was overwhelmed upon receipt of my first transfer. I felt that my dream has come through. The transfer put me in the position of building a comfortable house for myself and to pay my son school fees for the first time.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The difference is that before I couldn't afford paying my son school fees and to buy building materials. The transfer has changed my situation. I was able to pay my child school fees for the first time. I also purchased some building materials for my future house.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my first transfer on building materials and school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Since the death of my husband in 2007, life has been very difficult as a result, the house we both built broke down so my son(Anthony) build me this unfinished two bed rooms unplaster mud house with thatched roof just for me to sleep. Once I received money transfer from Give Directly, I will firstly complete this house by changing the roof from THATCH to ZINC, expand my farm and lastly start a business which will help me get money to be able buy myself food.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Seeing myself still alive with no sickness is the happiest thing I have experienced in within the last six(6) months.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Getting money for myself to complete the house my son started building for me is a real challenge am facing.
