How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would gave been because I now own two dairy cows. This has always been my dream to own them but I couldn't afford them because they were very expensive and because of my odd jobs, I couldn't afford them. The dairy cows are now producing milk in large quantities and I am so glad because my family is now enjoying taking white tea every morning which has improved their health. In addition, I normally sell the surplus to the nearby dairy shops and generate an income. This income has greatly improved my living stated and I am now in a position to fend for my family without straining like before.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by ensuring every needy household received financial help. The organization has for sure improve the living standards of the poorest individuals in the village and most of us now own differentt kinds of assets. This includes decent houses whereby the previous ones were small huts that were very uncomfortable. Aso some noted to buy livestock which has also brought a great impact into our lives. On the other hand, I have not heard or seen anything they have not done well
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent a huge part of my second transer on clearing school fees for my daughter who is in college. Ever since she was enrolled, we have been having difficulties in paying the fees on time and this led to the accumulation of the fee. In most of the semesters, she could fail to take exams which were negative to her performance and this demoralized her, and I was worried someday she would drop out of school. However, God answered our prayer and sent GiveDirecty into our lives. Alos i boght staatneries lke, books, pens and many more.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the message notification early in the morning. On reading the contents, it was informing me that I had received my first transfer. I felt happy to receive such an amount of money. I could not wait to withdraw the money. I celebrated with my family for this fortune.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now owning two heifers to start with. I did not have any livestock in my compound. They were expensive for me to acquire. I was only seeing them from my neighbours. I am happy to own these heifers and my expectation is that they will reproduce and increase in number. I will be benefitting from the milk they will be producing for my family's consumption and sell the surplus to earn an income. Besides, the heifers are a source of wealth and a saving for the future of my children's education.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought two heifers to keep in my homestead at KES 30000. I chose to buy the heifers because I know they will be reproducing and increase in number. I can readily rely on them in case of financial needs. Besides, I will also be getting milk for my family's consumption and sell the surplus to earn an income. I am also building house for my children. They have been sheltering in neighbours houses since my living house is not spacious enough to accommodate them. I bought some iron sheets and and building poles to facilitate this. I also spent the money on doing some shopping on clothes and foodstuffs for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"Receiving this money means taking my child to vocational college. One of my 4 girls finished her secondary education on the year 2019 but due to lack of fees she is yet to join. I am planning to spend all the 110,000 shillings of the transfer to settle her fees. This will give room for me to continue saving the little coins I get from my casual jobs plus the support from her daddy, which will cater for the remaining 1 year. I believe she will be employed after graduation and this is going to serve as our source of income."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"My happiest part of the day is in the morning. When I wake seeing all my family members are fine makes me feel happy. It is at this time when I also glorify God for what he has done."
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"Unemployment becomes my biggest hardship in life. I depend on doing casual jobs which earns me at least 450 shillings in a day. This jobs are also not guarantee."
