How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has greatly changed because I'm sleeping comfortably in a permanent house as opposed to before when I slept in a leaking thatched house. Secondly, I also accessed adquate treatment since I was degonised with hernia. Before, I went to the health centres which did not have medcine and well trained medical personels.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by helping me build a permanent house and access better treatment. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought building materials, paid medical bills and bought food. However, the recipient could not remember all items bought.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The cash transfer has significantly changed my life in that I am currently constructing a permanent house which will accommodate the family. Previously, we were living in a thatched house for over 30 years. GiveDirectly has made it possible for us to have a life changing experience of living in a good house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I recall my son reading the mobile money message for me on a Friday morning. I was extremely happy because at my age I do not have any income generating activity that I can depend on.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I purchased bricks worth UGX 705000 and cement worth UGX 150000 and timber worth UGX 300000 and iron sheets worth UGX 300000. I paid the builder UGX 200000. The balance was spent on buying food.
