How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Although I am still staying in my grass thatched house, my life is different in that I am now happy seeing that I will be completing my iron roofed house. At this age of mine, it will relieve me from the issue of renovating the grass thatched house that leaks and infested with with rodents.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by giving me unconditional money that in my etire life to this old age have never seen and held.
There is nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to buy more materials such as timber, iron sheets, cement, sand that I am using to complete building my permanet house.
I then bought bed sheets, and mattress.
I am still saving up some money that I plan to use as need arises.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The big difference now is that I can afford what I couldn't before especially food. I am also very excited because the construction of a decent house is in the progress. Currently, I am sleeping in a hut which doubles as a kitchen but I thank GiveDirectly for the money that has changed my life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt happy when I received the news from my son that money had reached my phone. I ululated and I feel proud because the construction process of my house has kick started.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer for paying school fees for my grand son. I bought food, 3 trips of bricks, paid a constructor UGX 100,000 and medical expenses.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will mean that building a better iron roofed house that I will stay in. I currently stay in at a grass thatched house that is very cold at night and not conducive for my old age.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is after lunch. I wake up early morning, go out to do casual labour and after acquiring food for that day, I become happy while reluxing with other neighbours.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is inadequate food. I do casual labour in order to enable me buy food for my household. After a week's hard cashual labour, I buy a basin of cassava and beans which is very expensive for me in my old age.
