How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has improved because I paid off the debt which was stressing me. If I had not gotten this transfer, the person owe would have taken my farm land since I used it as security for the loan. In addition, I acquired a bicycle which I use for collecting water and crops from the farm. Before these cash transfer, I used to suffer from chest pain because I carried heavy things for a long distance and could not pay off the loan.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by giving me money for paying the debt I had and plastering my permanent house. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought a cow, building materials( 15 bags of cement and 1 trip of sand) and paid labour.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has improved because through this cash transfer, I was able to repossess my farm land. I hope to use it in the next season. Secondly, I bought a bicycle which has eased my work like collecting water and food crops from the farm. Previously, I could farm on a small scale and more so I often suffered from chest pain because of carrying heavy things.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I got money, I felt very happy because I was sure of repossessing my farm land which was used as security for the loan.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Paid a debt of worth UGX 700,000, I bought a bicycle worth UGX 200,000, building materials ( sand 1 trip) worth UGX 30,000, household goods ( utensils) worth UGX 40,000, food (cassava flour) worth UGX 170,000.There is a balance which I'm planning to spend on plastering my house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means regaining ownership of a piece of frarm land that I mortgaged for meeting the burial expenses of my late husband. I will cultivate on that farm land, sell part of the produce and eat some in order to be well nourished.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is a round mid day when I am cooking the little food that I have acquired for the day. I always feed twice a day but it is very difficult to find what to put on the table.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Inadequate land for crop cultivation is my biggest hardship I face. I do not have enough farm land in order to cultivate crops both for household consumption and sale.
