How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is better because I acquired Livestock like a bull and a cow which I did not have. The bull will help in ploughing my gardens when the season for farming starts. Before, I had to just hire for someone which was costly. In addition, I'm currently completing to build a permanent house. Previously, I had only a grass thatched house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well to by giving me money to buy Livestock like a cow and a bull and I have built my permanent house. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have spent my second transfer on purchasing building materials (bricks, iron sheets, timber, cement, sand, nails ) worth UGX 1,520,000. There is a balance of UGX 112,000 which I'm planning to spend on Labour.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I have a peace of mind nowadays compared to the days before I benefited from GD. I used to over think a lot on how to get money for my brothers' tuition and what to cook for ourselves. In addition to that I have also bought a cow that can help me in future in case I get any problem that requires money.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy at the time I received this money because deep down my heart I knew I was going to solve many challenges that I have been facing In my life for example school fees for my brother. I jumped, ululated and thanked God for bringing Give Directly because I never imagined receiving these amounts of money freely without doing anything to earn it.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Since I and my brother are total orphans and there's no one to take care of us. My brother is still undergoing his studies and I decided to use part of this transfer to pay his school tuition which was Ugx 600000. I also decided to buy a cow such that it can multiply in the future and produce milk that I can either consume or sell to earn income out of it and I spent ugx 800000 on this cow. I have also been sleeping on a small mattress and no bed so when I got the money, I bought both a bed and a mattress which I paid ugx 195000. The remaining money ugx 105000 I decided to use it for buying food in the house since feeding is very expensive.

The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon when I spend time with my grand mother and she tells me stories.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is lack of money to pay school fees for my child. This is because I am a single mother and the father of my child doesn't support me in any way.
