How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have started a new business of selling maize. I buy maize at a lower price from the suppliers and sell with a little higher price. I had always wished to own a business but I didn't had money to start it. When I received the second transfer I found it wise to invest on this amazing business. Currently I make good profits, I save with the plans of expanding my business. I used also the profits to pay school fees for my children in various schools, they are no longer sent home to collect the school fees like before. I also purchase all the basic needs and my children do not lack what to eat. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on buying a heifer. My plans is that when it reproduce I will have enough milk for my family. I also started a business of selling maize at the shopping center. The rest of the money I bought food and clothes for my family. I am so grateful for the support.
