How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was was so costly. I do not have a continuous source of income. I depend on small scale farming to earn an income through the sales of my farm produce. My spouse also do small casual jobs in the village and sometimes to get this jobs is so hard. We had always wished to invest on dairy farming project but we didn't had the cash. When I received the second transfer I felt so happy. Currently I no longer buy milk, I have enough milk for my family and I sell the extra milk to earn an income to meet other basic household needs. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of the money I received from GiveDirectly to buy a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me. I also bought two goats and the rest of the money I spent on food and clothes for my children.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was at 6.50am when I was still asleep when I heard a message beep. I checked my phone and it was GiveDirectly transfer. I woke up immediately and went to ask my mother in law if she had received the same message but she had not. A few minutes later, she also received the message and we both jumped up and down with happiness. I called my husband who works in Nairobi and he too was very happy.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Right now, I can wear a shoe that I had always wanted but could not afford. I am also milking my own cow which I bought from the GiveDirectly transfer as I have always wanted to own a cow but finances have not been enough. I bought sheep because I know they multiply very fast and whenever there are emergencies, I can sell off one easily and clear the emergencies. Thank you GiveDirectly and may God bless you richly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought a cow, 3 sheep, 3 bags of maize and 25 kilograms of rice. I also bought clothes and shoes for my family members.
