What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my most recent transfer to purchase 2 bags of fertiliser as I am preparing for next farming season..The 2 bags of fertilizer costed me a sum of $110 in a neighbouring market..It took me about an hour and some minutes to travel to the market to get the bags. I also bought food i.e. bags of maize...I was buying 1 bag of maize at a price of $20, so I spent $100 on the 5 bags of maize that I purchased...I think the amount of food that I bought will be enough for my family of 6 as I already have a few left in my house. Lastly, I used the cash to purchase goods e.g soap, salt, sugar for my existing business as a way of finding income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these payments is that in the past I was failing to provide the required amounts of food for family but now with the money I am able to purchase food and even have some food in excess. I also think that this year I will be able to have more food since I have fertiliser making it easy for me to produce harvest more food especially maize.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my cash transfer I was so grateful and happy because I knew that finally some of the major challenges that I have been facing will come to an end.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The challenge that is making life harder for me is a financial challenge. I have a small grocery shop outside my house where I stock groceries such as soap, sugar, body lotions. The monthly sale I make from the shop is about $15 which is not enough for me to pay school fees for my children, buy food and clothes for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the month of May I was the happiest. It was the time I harvested three bags of Soya beans that I planted. I sold each bag at $40. The money I made from the sales I was able to buy food and clothes for my family of seven.
What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Receiving this money I will use $200 to buy more items for my existing business. I have a grocery shop where I sell groceries such as soap, sugar and body lotion just to mention a few. This will increase my profits since I will have a variety of groceries that people in my village want.
