Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment we received the transfer was one of the most happiest days of my life. As a family we were very happy and relived. Our family lacked a lot of things so we really needed the money hence the happiness.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I was in South Africa and I just returned in January. I still had on me some change and a few gadgets that I used to sell to support my family. The same little money was used to run a small business. I sell rice. That is how we barely made it through the days. However, with this transfer, I was able to purchase other things such as mattresses, blankets for me, my wife and our two children and also finished the house. So, instead of just surviving, we are now living a comfortable life. That is how different our live s are now with the transfer.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My household did not have proper beddings for almost every member. This included mattresses and beddings. So I used the money to buy all these things for me and my wife as well as my children. In addition to that, my house was not entirely finished. For example, the floor was undone. Therefore I also bought some cement to be used to make the floor.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very happy to get enrolled in the program because the money will help me and my family to buy food, we most of the times lack adequate food, God should bless the donors who are helping us in this way, they should continue doing this to others too
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happy in the morning hours because it's the time I thank God for letting me wake up again because it's his wish not mine alone
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We often faced hunger year by year because we struggle to get cheap fertilizer so that alone affects the amount of food that we harvest year by year
