What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After I received my cash transfer from Give Directly I managed to buy iron sheets at 125,000 kwacha, 3 blankets at 30,000 each, a mattress at 75,000 kwacha and bags of cement. I had a house which was not complete as I had no money to complete it but with the cement I bought managed to improve its condition and am very thankful.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is that I used to wake up dirty every morning as I used to sleep on the floor but now with the mattress I bought sometimes I even just dress up off to work as am always clean and am very thankful for being in this programme. We never had beddings before but now I managed to buy 3 blankets for my family this is also a big difference in my life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my cash transfer I was so excited as I knew that life was about to get better. I used to sleep on a mat which was not comfortable, every morning used to complain about my back as it used to pain but after I received the transfer I managed to buy a mattress and now am sleeping comfortably.
