Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my cash transfer I was so happy even though my wife Gloria thought that Givedirectly was lying about distributing the cash...I celebrated together with my wife and I was so thankful.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these payments is that I have been able to start my dream business as I am able to make at least $8 a day which was so hard to find in the past..
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my cash transfer to establish a new small scale business by purchasing a brand new fridge which I use in selling freezes at a nearby school since I work as a teacher...Also, I hired a helper who help in selling the freezes at the small market.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Recieving this money will help me to Invest in a business. I will start selling woven trays and baskets. I will use $275 as my business capital. Each woven basket and tray is sold $0.29 which is the wholesale price in my community. I will be selling the baskets and trays at $2 each in the neighboring districts such as Lilongwe and Mchinji. This will help me to be paying my tuition fee per semester eith ease which is $600 at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the month of March, I was the happiest because it was the month my wife got her work transfer letter from Dedza government hospital to Tchesa Health centre. This made me happy because I will no longer be traveling on weekends to Dedza town to visit her since the health centre is in the community where I work in.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The challenge that I am currently facing is a financial challenge. I am a primary school teacher and am also pursuing a Bachelors degree in Agricultural economics at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Paying tuition fee semester is a challenge because the money I get paid is not enough. I get paid $150 every month which caters for groceries and other basic needs for my household and a share of it is paid as an installment for my tuition fee. The tuition fee per semester is $600.
