How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes! I have a new goal. It has always been my dream to build a bigger house that my family and myself will be able to live in. The house we live in now is smaller. I was so excited when I receive my first transfer. I felt blessed when I received the cash transfer. I hurrily went to pay my children school fees that I couldn't afford because things were tough. My kids had to stay out of school last semester due to financial constraints. I also wanted to build a house but couldn't. Therefore, i bought two bundle of zinc for my 3rooms house I want to build. This is my new goal. It has always been my dream to build a bigger house. I pay some of my debt with the remaining money. Im waiting for my 3rd transfer to buy the balance one bundle of zinc, zinc nail and pay people to saw stick and to pay the builder to start the process.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly help we the poor people to live a better life. In my opinion, GiveDirectly is an honest NGO. They don't discriminate. Also, I think by allowing recipients use their transfer to better their own lives are few of the things they are doing well. The GiveDirectly staffs show us alot of respect as if we are their bosses.I haven't seen anything for now that they are not doing well. Let's see what happens in the future.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am so happy. I am glad because I am now able to bring my dream to pass I bought two bundle of zinc to build my house and I was also able to pay my children school fees. My kids had been out of school since last semester because of the lack of money. I pay some debt for my wife and myself that we have been owing. The last potion was spend on 1 bag of rice and other food stuff for my family to be eating. We have been suffering! Our living conditions has been very bad. My house as you can see is in a very bad condition. The thatch roof over my house is seriously damaged, I have no radio, and no travelling bag, so when I heard the news about the GiveDirectly cash transfer, I was very happy because I knew that all that I been lack of are going to be available when I possessed the money in hands. Now, I can afford to buy myself those things that I am lack off.

When I have not received the money I been plating mats and fixing bamboo chairs to survive along with my family . But when I started receiving the money from Givedirectly, I have given my wife a business to do to impower her and also make her to have something to turn to when we are going down financially in the future .
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was able to buy zinc to change the roof over my house; I'd also bought a radio to listen to the news and also entertain myself and again I bought a travelling bag to put my clothes in whenever I am going out of town.
