How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I did not receive these transfers I would have been sad. However I am happy that I received the transfers. I have solved some of my problems through these transgers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
This organisation did a wonderful job because I was poor but now I have some of the things that I needed. My level of poverty has been reduced because of the funds that I received from GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the money to buy iron sheets for the roof of my house because my house was damaged by heavy rains. I want to replace the old iron sheets with the new ones.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy when I received the cash. I had alot of problems in my household. Finding food to feed my family was a challenge, we had no decent beddings and few clothes to wear. On top of that, I used admire houses with roofs made of iron sheets but I could not afford to buy them. Receiving the money meant that I would have all these needs met that is why I was so happy.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I have seen a great difference in my life and that of my children. We now have enough food to eat and we have decent beddings in sleep on. In addition to that, my children and I have new clothes to wear. Even my children are very happy.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought 25 iron sheets, 4 blankets, 4 bags of maize and also bought clothes for myself and my five children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money means alot to me and me being enrolled I feel like my household really stand out as the poorest household, and I'm very happy to be part of the programme.
What is the happiest part of your day?
To be honest i haven't been all that happy for the past years, this is so because i have alot of problems each and everyday I always think about what my family will eat and sometimes my children end their day without anything in their stomach.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship had always been hunger,I struggle every day to find food for my family,I know I'm a farmer but with insufficient farm inputs I always end up with little harvest.I plan to use my transfer to buy lots of food that will keep us through out the year 2021 and some to buy household equipments.
