How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
As for now, I do not have any new goal. It is my plan that my previous goal set be achieved, and that is to have my new house completed. I was unable to do all of these building works because I did not have the finance to do them. Farming is the only source of livelihood for my family and I. I am so happy and greatful to GiveDirectly for this wonderful opportunity. I am going to make a maximum use of it to better the living conditions of my household.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
By GiveDirectly giving us the money and leaving us with the decision to decide how to spend it is something I have never seen happened since I was born. Again, reaching to the hard to reach communities like mine to help the poor is highly commendable. In addition, GiveDirectly does well by going to every house in the village to making sure that all eligible and deserving households is enrolled. Finally in my opinion, I have not seen anything that the organization is not doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was able to buy planks and nails with my first transfer. With the second transfer I hired a builder to build my house. I was also able to pay my children's school fees with portion of my second transfer. The most recent money I received was spent on purchasing cement and sylin tile. This transfer came just at the time when two of my sons were about to be put out of school for their balance fees. I was able to pay all of their balance school fees from the transfer I recently received.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was on my farm working and decided late in the afternoon to get back home. While on my way a message notification came to my phone and I stopped to check which notification it was. To my surprise it was the mobile money transfer from GiveDirectly I have eagerly been waiting for. I was really glad on seeing this and when I got home and told the news to my wife, it was like heaven has come down.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Through the transfer, I was able to buy zinc and pay the hold year school fees for my children. Since I received the transfer, that there has been a lot of happiness in the home. The children are happy that they are back in school.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was able to buy zinc with portion of my transfer and pay school fees for my children who are still in primary school. Farming is what I depend on as a source of livelihood. Getting the finance to pay my children's school fees has been a challenge for me because the farm did not yield last farming season. Due to low yield I have also been unable to do any development.
