How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Having a decent and reputable house to live in and to have my children in school has always been my goal. My house has been in a deplorable state for many years now. Despite it being in that state I have not been able to properly renovate it due to the lack of finance. Furthermore, my children have not been able to go back to school for the same financial reason. After I received the money from GiveDirectly, I use portion of it to renovate our house and portion was used to sent my children back to School. I am so happy that what I had desired long time ago to have a zinc house has come true by the help of GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
By giving me the cash and allowing me to decide what to do with it is one of the things that the organization has done well. In addition, not only transferring the cash but coming to make sure that the cash transferred has reached the rightful person. Absolutely nothing wrong I have seen on the part of the organization.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Through this last transfer, I was able to buy, nails, cement, and planks to renovate my house. For many years now I have been living in this deplorable house with my family. Some times when the rain is falling we are forced to change the position of our things most especially the important ones to avoid them being damage by the rain waters. I so greatful to GiveDirectly for this opportunity. As of now, my children are happily in school because I have paid their balance school fees.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My house is very old and the roof is leaking. Most of the sticks are rotten. Therefore, building a house and establishing a new business has become my newest objective. When I received my recent transfer, I bought 2 bundles of zinc for my new house. I also purchased few packs of mixed nails and 1 carton of zinc nails to roof my house. The money received as grant from GiveDirectly has transformed my life for good. I am grateful for this 'once in a lifetime ' opportunity.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly, through this program, has given hope to extremely poor people like us. Moreover, GD has been very objective and honest in delivering cash to bona fide receipients. I don't see anything that GiveDirectly has not been doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
All along I have desired to build a house and also start a new business. Hence, when I received my transfer, I bought 2 bundles of zinc for $22,000LD. I also used portion of my transfer to buy 3 cartons of zinc nails ($2,400LD) and 1 carton of mixed nails($3,750LD). Finally, I bought 1 tub of fish to start my business. Eventually, the fish business will provide additional income for me to cater to my family basic needs. GiveDirectly transfers has improved my livelihood.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I do not have any new goal set yet besides the one I am working to achieve. My plan is to complete the construction of my house. The first transfer helped me a lot in achieving most of my plans. Living in a thatch house is something that causes my children to get ill everytime especially during the rainy season. My children always suffer from cold. If I shall have completed the construction of the new house which will be roof with zinc, I believe that there will be a lot warmth and my children will not suffer from cold like before.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by enrolling every eligible household into the program. During the enrollment process it is great that GiveDirectly is fair. In my opinion there is nothing that the organization is not doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my first payment to buy three bundles of zinc for my house. Portion of my second payment was used to buy additional one bundle of zinc and nails to complete the roofing of my house. I used the balance to pay the builder. As seeing, I am so happy to see my new house nearing completion.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I can't imagine how this dream will be interpreted. But I know that my plans will come to reality. I have been living in this town since 1997;after the war I build this house you see today but it is very old and is leaking seriously. When the rain season is here ; at night I keep watch to place things to leaking areas. So if I am qualified to meet up with Give Directly criteria,I will build a very big and new house for my family. I will no longer be sleeping in a leaking roof house again but rather a new zinc roof house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Over the period of time I have heard so many news from different places but I think this news of Give Directly brought today is the happiest and will change some story around.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
To build the house required money. I need zinc, cement bags, nails and other materials but there is no money. My daughter, money you see so is the strength of a man. If I get some of this money my problem solve. Money is the hold on to building my house but trust me as soon as the money comes ; all what I have listed here will be bought to start my work.
