How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am Mazoe Boimah from Benduma town, Bomi county Liberia. I planned to complete payment of my grandchildren school fees and buy seven bags of cement for plastering of my house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Givedirectly help me a lot through the cash transfer program. I have three grandchildren that I am presently responsible to take care of. My son left these children with me six years ago when I was much stronger. I been taking care of these children and don't know the location of their father up to present. I been farming just to pay their school fees and get food for us. I was actually worry about payment of their school fees this academic year before Givedirectly came to this village and registered me as beneficiary for the cash transfer. I am so happy because I didn't go through hard struggles for payment of their school fees this year. Thanks to Givedirectly and those who contributed in helping me pay my grand children school fees and plastering of my house. I am planning to start business with my last cash transfer to continue helping myself and my grandkids. I am so delighted.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I haven't cash out yet due to busy schedule. Upon cashing out my transfer money, I am planning to buy seven bags of cement for plastering of my house and complete payment of my grandchildren school fees.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I am Mazoe Baimah from Benduma town, Bomi County Liberia. I was very excited upon receiving cash transfer massage from Givedrectly because, I was completely out of money to pay my grandchildren school fees. When Givedrectly came to my village and told us that they will send money through mobile money to those that will be eligible for their cash transfer, I actually didn't believe them untill one morning my grand daughter started dancing with so much excitement say that God has done it for my family. I manage to walk towards her asking what the excitement was all about. only to realize that Givedrectly has transfer money to my mobile money account. I also started dancing. It is the first time in my life to receive such amount of money. I was so happy.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference this money has done for me is that my grandchildren are in school, I have good food to eat, and mattress to sleep on. I been in this village all my life and didn't have mattress to sleep on. All those years,I been sleeping on plam thatch. My son came to visit me five years ago and left his three children in this village without support. I been growing crops and marking cassava farm just to get food and clothes for my grandchildren and I. I am so happy now that I have a new mattress and my grandchildren are in school. Thanks to Givedrectly and those that have contributed in helping the needed. I pray that the blessing of God be with this organization. I am so happy and waiting to receive my second cash transfer so that my granddaughter can start business to help reduce hardship.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I cash out my money, I did payment of my grandchildren school fees, bought food, radio, mattress, one bundle of zinc, and one bag of cement for plastering of my house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I am lucky to receive money from GiveDirectly, I want to start a business because I am a widow and have no one to help me make big farm. Since my husband passed out long time ago, I have only depended on small small gardens work to support myself. So, I brought my grand son, Seh Taylor to live with me and be helping me to burn coal. We don't have money to pay power saw operators or anyone to make big farm for me as my husband used to do for me. My prayers have been to get money to buy my own personal power saw that will help me and my grand son. The money he gets from burning coal is not enough to take of us. More besides, the coal work is very hard, and that the small gardening works are not sufficient to cater to our needs as well. So, any assistance GiveDirectly can give me will be highly appreciated.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months what has brought me joy or happiness is when I received two cups of rice from one of my neighbors, Lewis. It makes me happy because I didn't have anyone to buy my greens I had in my garden, and that I was thinking where to get money from to buy food when Lewis surprised me with the gift. For the fact that Lewis is not my relative that she gives me two cups of rice to eat makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship facing me is money to provide food and cater to me and my grand son, Seh Taylor. Even though I make small gardens and he burns coal, the money we generate are very small to meet our needs.
