How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No! I have no new goals. My goal has been to renovate my house. I have not been able to do so due to lack of money. I am a mechanic. Before I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly things were not going so well for my family. My wife has been making business, lately the business has not been going so well. I could hardly make enough money from my mechanic shop. Things started to get a bit difficult for my family. Our house spoiled. We could not afford the funds to fix it. I was so happy when I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly. Hopefully our lives will improve.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does not do anything unwell. It gives us unconditional cash and ask for nothing in return. That is amazing. We are so grateful that our lives will improve for the best.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Ever since our house got spoiled we have not been able to renovate it due to lack of money. I was excited when I received my payment. I used some of my money to buy a bundle of zinc and some bags of cement. I also used a little amount to buy a bag of rice and some other food items for my home. I used rest of the money to add more goods to my wife's business. I am so excited that with this program our lives are getting back on track and improving gradually.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I'm a businessman, the past COVID-19 pandemic reduced my income thereby causing me to have small goods in my shop. When I get this money I will use some to add up my business and use the balance to complete my current house I'm building so that my family and I can move to a bigger house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I was very happy in November when I heard that GiveDirectly was operating in Rivercess County with the hope that they will reach my community and I will be a beneficiary.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My current challenge is lack of finance. I want to increase my business and complete my new house but all these are not possible now because I don't have money. These situations have caused my family to live in a small house where we are not free, and also making us not to eat adequately.
