How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am Zinnah Haidu from Lonoe town, Bomi County Liberia. Before receiving my second cash transfer, I planned to pay my children balance school fees, buy food and save the balance money for emergency purpose.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedrectly came to my village and told us that they are involve in helping the needed and they told us that they will transfer unconditional cash to those that will be eligible for their program in four installment. I was selected and started receiving cash transfer from Givedrectly. They are committed to sending the money on time and schedule. Givedrectly staff are also good in interacting with people, no matter the condition or status. I am so proud of Givedrectly. There is nothing that Givedrectly has not done well in my village.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Upon cashing out my money, I did payment of my children balance school fees, bought food and save the balance money for emergency purpose.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I am successful to receive the cash transfer, I will spend it for my children school fees. They are in Monrovia living with people going to school. The people they are living with don't have money like me too. So I can find it very difficult to pay their school fees regularly. Although I am engaged into coal production that I can earn money from for that purpose. However, the coal is not giving money that the school required. This is because in producing the coal, we cut sticks from the bush, burn same to have the coal. But here, there is no more forest or bush that I will get the kinds of sticks I need for the coal production. Due to that, I am not earning the money I need to earn to be able to pay my children school fees. So if I receive the cash transfer promised by GD when I am successful, that will be a huge relief for me in that direction.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Yes, I was very happy in last July when my two girls children living with people got promoted to 5th and 6th grade respectively. I was very happy for that because these days, for girls children to stay in school for the year to end without them getting pregnant is very difficult. And the ages they at now, a lot of girls at those ages are getting pregnant almost everyday and everywhere. So for them to stay in school to the end of year where they were promoted makes me very happy as a father. .
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The major challenge for me here is money. Money is very difficult to get here because as I mentioned earlier, the only thing we are engaged in here to get money is through coal production. But these days, we don't have bush or forest here to get the sticks that we can use for the coal production. Due to that, I am always out of money to do a lot of things I need to do with money.
