How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes. I have been desiring to have a house in my entire life but I have been struggling to do so because I have been lacking money. I started thinking of building a house when I heard that I will receive money from GD. I am grateful because my desire will be fulfilled.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I am so grateful for the transfer I received. My life has changed. GD is doing very well in remembering rural communities by giving them money.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I managed to buy 2 bags of fertilizer which I will apply in my maize field. I also bought 5 bags of maize for food processing. I have been struggling with hunger in the past. I also bought kitchen utensils such as plates, pots and spoons. I also bought beddings and timber.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money means alot to me and my family. Its our chance to experience a huge change in our lives. What we get now through our small businesses is just hand to mouth. We have been wanting to rennovate our house but we lacked resources. This money will help us buy necessary requirements for the house plus pay labour for the rennovations.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Last months (August and September) were the happiest moments of my life and of the community as a whole. This is the time when we send kids to initiation camps and we celebrate throughout the period.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently having enough money to carter for all our basic needs is our problem. I do sell firewood and my husband is a fisher man. But still we dont earrn much.
