How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am a 7th grade dropped out. I dropped from school since 2020 due to lack of support. My plan is to still go back to school and completed my high school education and advance myself at the university level. Therefore, to accomplish my goal, I have decided to get involve in cocoa production. In 2021, I planted two acres of cocoa and still want to increase my farm by additional one acre by 2024. However, this farm will support me financially in achieving my goal few years from now. I want to see myself back to school in 2025 and my source of income will be my farm.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am John Toe. A 25 year-old man and the only male child of my parent. I will build my house and continue my education if I received the cash transfer from GiveDirectly. I am a fifth grade dropped-out who still have the desire to continue my schooling. I have my own family now but it has not been my plan. When I dropped from school and decided to establish a cocoa plantation, I needed some one to help me that's why I engaged in to early marriage. I dropped from school and now focusing on cocoa plantation due to the lack of support. Now that I had a spouse, I want to build a house and go back to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The presence of GiveDirectly today in our community is my deepest source of joy. I have not heard or seen any NGO to give free cash directly to households for self use Since I was born. I want to be forever grateful to GiveDirectly for establishing a source of joy and happiness for me and my family. If I successfully build a house with my GiveDirectly transfer to move in it, I will forget all the suffering I have been through.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am.not educated so I don't have any source of income. For this reason, the lack of finance remains my major hardship. I only substain on fishing and farming. I am greatful to the GiveDirectly family for thinking about us. It's through GiveDirectly pur lives and our community will change positively.
