What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Receiving this money means that we would be able to purchase 3 bags of fertilizer with respect to our farm size we believe we would be able to have bumper yields next year for food. Then we plan on buying 5 bags of maize to top up on our current food levels. Finally, we have always wanted to start a business of selling irish potatoes, so with this cash we feel it would be the ideal time to invest some of that cash into that business and hope it grows and brings us even more money some of which would be used to complete this house you see in front of you and also buy clothes for our family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
On 11th August this year I went for a women's group trip to monkeybay and this brought me joy. And when I came back on the 13th of August I could see that my family was happy too as I brought them fish from the lake and we had decent meals with that relish that week.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently in my family we are facing two challenges, the first being low food levels. Due to erratic rains and lack of fertilizer our harvest this year was little, we only got 8 bags of maize, which is half of what we got the previous year. This means that we are now adjusting our eating patterns. Thus, instead of having 3 meals a day we are now only having 2, we have removed breakfast from our menu. The other hurdle is lack of clothing. We feel this is because we don't have any reliable source of income that can help us buy clothes for our children as well as ourselves.
