How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goals has always been to complete the renovation of my house and to have a decent and reputable house to live in and to keep my children in school. After I received the money from GiveDirectly, I use portion of it to renovate our house and portion was used to keep the children in school. I am so happy that what I had desired long time ago to have a zinc house has come true by the help of GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
By giving me the cash and allowing me to decide what to do with it is one of the things in my opinion GiveDirectly has done well. In addition, not only transferring the cash but following up on it to make sure that the cash transferred has reached the rightful person. Absolutely nothing bad I have seen on the part of the organization.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was able to hire some contractors to help replace the thatch roof with planks and zinc. Through the last transfer I was able to buy two bundles of zinc to added to the the balance zinc I had to construct a two bedrooms house. I also completed my children's school fees with portion of my money and the balance is in safe keeping for future use.
