How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goal has been to have a better house to live in but getting the finance to achieve that goal has been a challenge for me. I started building my house since last year July. Due to the lack of money to complete, I have been laughed at and consider as a lazy man in the town. Thank GiveDirectly for giving me this huge amount of money. I am going to use it to have my house completed. When this house is completed, it will be one of the biggest and finest house in this town.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by visiting every house in the town to determine if a household is eligible to be enrolled. In this way I think no household that is qualify to be register is left out. Unless a household rejects to be enroll into the program. Furthermore, by giving the cash without any condition attached is well in place. In my opinion, GiveDirectly has not done things that are not in the right way or direction.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Through the transfers from GiveDirectly I am now able to complete my house. I used my first payment to buy two bundles of zinc and one cartoon of nails. I was able to again buy three additional bundles of zinc and few bags of cement to be used for plastering and floor putting. Getting the finance to do all of what I am doing now has been a challenge for me as susistaince farming is the only source of livelihood for me and my family. I am so happy that my household was eligible to be enrolled.
