What does receiving this money mean to you?
Since my childhood days life has never been easy in this village. There has been so many challenges that I have been faced with. Right now, I'm three months pregnant and have no mattress in my room. When I received this money from GiveDirectly I will used it to built a better house and buy a new mattress so that I can be able to sleep comfortably. The stick bed that I'm sleeping on presently can put pain in my body and make me sick.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Over the years, I have come to understand that as we live there will be lots of difficulties, the country that I'm living in right now is very difficult. Some times I even give up on life but just finding food for my family to eat at the end of the day can bring me so much happiness. I always pray to God not to allow me sleep with hunger, when he answer my prayers I can be very happy for that day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
There has been a long standing history of us living in poverty and as years come and go nothing has been done about it. These difficulties increases on a daily basis. Right now as I speake to you I can't provide food for my family, as a pregnant woman sometimes I even go to bed hungry. I don't have a decent living place, where I'm sleeping is very bad. There's no mattress and I have to sleep on sticks bed.
