How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Our new goal is to purchase in a piece of land in the city. We want to leave from the village to live in Monrovia. The village work is very hard so we are now seeking better opportunities. Over the years, we have suffer a lot. We burn charcoal, brush farms and so many hard work. We believe that purchasing land is another achievement to shift our destination for positive transformation.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, this is another form of youth empowerment executed by Givedirectly. They have done so much for us by educating us on how to be transparent about information we share. They are hrlping us greatly to be independent and self reliant.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will invest in a business if I received this cash transfer from Givedirectly. I am four months old pregnant right now and I don't have any support. My boyfriend is also a student but right now he is not in school. He has gone in to the traditional school( Poro Society) due to the pressure from his father and the town people. In my condition now,I do casual labour before I get food to eat. I am expected to have a child couple of months from now. I think the business will be the first backing that will enable me to achieve several other things like: eating good food for my unborn baby to be healthy, giving support to my boyfriend to get back in academic school when he gets back from the traditional school and handling the welfare of the baby when he/she is born. I am really thankful to Givedirectly.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I could remembered the first week in August, 2021 was my happy time. This time was the beginning of my boyfriend academic break and he was able to produce at least 30 bags of coal. We generated little money our of the sale that he used to provide food and others things needed for the house. Since he left for the traditional school (Poro Society) in September, 2021, everything has changed for me so badly. Today is another happy time for me because, the presence of Givedirectly and to be part of their program. Givedirectly will help us a family to have a better life and even when our unborn baby is born if we received their benefits and uses it wisely.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The major hardship I am facing currently is, the lack of funding to take care of myself as a pregnant woman. In my first two months when my boyfriend was around me, things were not too hard as it is now. He used to do casual labour to support us but for now, I am the one doing whatever he was doing to get us food. The both of us have been separated from our both parents since we met. Even money for medication can't be available many times as such, I do not attend medical checkup regularly. It is my hope that, this will come to an end when I wisely use whatever Givedirectly will give me through a business.
